RE: Thanks for the memories Coach Ruff!
He did actually beat Navy on the road w/ a record breaking performance by DD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ6dyHl8yB0

He also beat a Bortles led UCF team at the end of 2011.

In 2012 he beat both UH & Memphis on their way out of C-USA, before ECU was invited to "The Big East" & then ECU destroyed USM by 41 and it wasn't even that close (doesn't matter how bad USM was then because any time ECU takes USM to the woodshed it is a good day for a Pirate).

Dropping double nickels on UNC in 2013 was nice!

Then taking NCSU to the woodshed later that year for 2nd consecutive win over the wolf puppies will make you popular at ECU

He did win a bowl game just 2 years ago.

Just last year he led ECU to it's 1st victory in Blacksburg since 1991 just a week after the #17 Hokies upset eventual nat'l champ Ohio State.

He then scored more points on #25 UNC then they have ever given up in school history (70) & ECU also racked up more yards against the Heels than any other team in history (789).

Just a couple months ago he joined an elite group of coaches who can say that they beat Beamer in consecutive seasons (I can't think of any others off the top of my head)

Just 2 games ago he scored the biggest blowout in ECU vs UCF history (44-7)

Could ECU ever get another coach that bleeds Purple & Gold like Ruff? Probably not.

I wish Ruff can still be apart of the Pirate family as some sort of mentor for the players.

ECU's Jeff Bower. Class act all the way. Led them to the AAC. First 10 win season in 20 years. Regularly beat P5 neighbors.

Class act all the way.

The people who maneuvered behind the scenes for his head... not so much. There was apparently a great deal that had to come together money wise to make this happen and they were able to get it done. Ruff is walking away a very wealthy man, but that doesn't fix how he was treated on the way out.

Thanks for being ECU to the bone Coach. 04-cheers

I don't think no one questions how good a person Coach Ruff is... I think Coach Ruff did all he could while at ECU.

What ECU can't do is hire someone who's results will equal Coach Ruff.

Tons of respect for Coach Ruff. He'll land a good job somewhere. Personally think ECU's athletic director got this wrong. But you know.....opinions.

Who takes the job and their performance will be the barometer for how good of a decision this truly was.

The reason he was fired is obvious and not debatable.

I was referring to your mental state. Post had nothing to do with Ruff.

RE: Thanks for the memories Coach Ruff!
Nice tribute. I'm glad you did that.

I thought it was a very unfair dismissal. His starting QB is out for the season and he has little to work with after that? College administrators have to realize that there are going to be rough seasons where injuries and talent dips happen. Every other team in the league is trying to beat you. What message does it send to coaches other than avoid losing like the plague. Make your 5 year payday and call it a career.

The problem in leagues like the AAC is that there are very few coaches loyal to a school to stay on when bigger fish chase. For whatever his faults, Ruff lead your team to some pretty significant P5/BCS-level team victories during his tenure. Did he suddenly get dementia?

blah blah blah....

at the end of the day if ECU is sitting at 10-2 or 11-1 and playing for the AAC title game, Ruff isn't fired. All this other stuff is BS distractions to the fact he didn't win enough.
