This doesn't even make sense.

that's because I doubt he was being serious.

RE: ECU fires Football Coach
Just for fun, I'm repeating a quote from an article in the Fayetteville Observer yesterday. It lists 10 candidates for the ECU job and Wilder is among them. The writer says, "He (Wilder) has had a tougher time in full FBS (11-13 record), but the Monarchs have been competitive." Apparently the writer didn't see the scores from this past year (the blowout losses). The writer then says, "Wilder has shown interest in the (ECU) job." Have no idea what his source is on that.

The two leading candidates I am hearing about are Withers from JMU and Shane Beamer from VT.

Neither one of them are better than Ruffin. ECU AD is a bonehead !!

STUPID !! EZU AD really screwed this up. What respectable coach would want the ECU job knowing the job Ruffin Mcneal did and how committed he was to EZU and he still got fired !! The risk was way to high that they were going to end up with a lesser coach.

Ruffin McNeal headed to UVA. He was unemployed about a week. Took him less time to find a job than it has taken ECU to replace him. What does that say?

UVA has a chance to turn things around fairly quick with the talent on roster and the new hires. If they manage 6-6 or better this upcoming season, I'd like to think Coach Ruff had something to do with it. A good man, and a better coach.

This is a much better hire than Everett Withers.

He's a NC native, played at Duke, knows the state inside and out. He might give the Pirates a huge recruiting edge for the type of recruits ODU is going for in the Tar Heel state.

RE: ECU fires Football Coach
Recent coaching changes have really impacted ODU from a recruiting perspective. We have got to be able to compete for 757 3 star recruits. The last couple of years our numbers have been going down. That has to change. It will be tougher now that Ruffin is at UVA, London is at MD, and VT kept Zohn. Some way , some how we have got to solidify our regional recruiting.

We need a building that is remotely attractive. Not as big but it needs to be something that doesn't say we are a cheap, low quality option. Until then, each of those schools will claim to own the 757 from hours away.

Good point...also we need to develop a loyal and rabid fan base that shows their ODU pride every day !

Local Raleigh web site obtained copy of Montgomery's contract, lots of incentives and potential bonuses built in, wonder how it compares to BW's contract,
