Hahahaha. How is saying NIU isn't that good of a basketball team a dumb thing if they lose to a team as bad as Mizzou? Are you trying to tell my that NIU is a proven good team based on who've they have played thus far? Haha because that would be a joke. They have yet to play a single good team. Mizzou is a crap team, they are worse than a crap team. They better win or else that will certainly form my opinion.
There are 30 basketball games in a year, so you are saying a team sucks by losing 1 game. Does Valpo suck because they lost to Ball State, is UT Arlington a better program than Ohio State, is Chicago State only a buzzer beater worse than the Fighting Illini, is NJIT better than Michigan, lets get a grip on reality, its basketball.
Not sure you are qualified to give that specific advice...

hahaha, well played.
Also, maybe "terrible" isn't the right word. I wouldn't consider NIU a very good basketball team if they lose to Mizzou given the fact that Mizzou is a very very bad team. The freshmen excuse is a bad one given the fact that these kids have been playing basketball their whole lives...and it's not like they are walking into Cameron Indoor here. They will be walking into a maybe half full Mizzou arena to play a very bad SEC basketball team. If that intimidates them, then I certainly won't have much hope for the season. But hey, they've done a great job winning these practice games they've played by a nice margin. Now real basketball begins (against a bad opponent yet again).

Ok you guys win, an undefeated NIU basketball team dominated by sophomores and freshman might as well be an NAIA program if they lose to an SEC team with an intimidating home environment, and a rich history of winning. I just think saying NIU basketball is a mess because of a loss @ Missouri is a complete over-reaction at this point.

Ummm, no. It's not going to be intimidating in the least bit. Mizzou is garbage this year. My brother went there and he is not excited in the least bit about this season and none of the students are either.
And it's funny you bring up NAIA since we haven't beat many teams above that type of level. Listen, we're all very happy that NIU is 7-0, hell we can even say impressed even though their best win is currently at Idaho. These have been practice games, we have no idea how good NIU is right now. But if they are as good as you claim they are, then they should destroy Mizzou, because that is one bad team they are facing tomorrow night.

I don't think Missouri is that bad. It's hard to tell after only 7 games.

If you ask Mizzou fans, they are maybe just a tad better than the crap team they had last year. But that's not saying much. If we want NIU to be a tournament team and competing for the MAC this year, they should be able to beat Mizzou.
Also, don't tell MD it's hard to tell after only 7 games...because right now undefeated NIU is ranked 12th in the country in his mind.

What!? I have agreed that NIU is the worst undefeated team in the country and is overblown due to the level of competition. I get yelled at for being too negative and too positive, I have no idea what to even post anymore.

Just saying, you can't have it both ways. They can't be a good up and coming team and then get beat by a bad Mizzou team. So that's why I said I wouldn't be impressed with NIU basketball if they lose to Mizzou. If they have turned the corner, like some of us think they have, then they should be able to beat teams like Mizzou no matter where they play.

Anyway, NIU should win this game if they are as good as I think they. If they get beat and especially if they are beat soundly than I was way off and will admit that NIU is a bad basketball team as promised.

RE: NIU @ Mizzou predictions
Missouri lost by 12 to Xavier on the road and by 5 to Northwestern in Kansas City. They have beaten Wofford, Maryland Eastern Shore and Arkansas St at home. There probably will be a crowd of 5000+. Do you not think Xavier would crush NIU? Also, I think Northwestern is better than NIU. I think NIU could win but will not be surprised if they lose by double digits.

Have you seen Mizzou play? Do you know if they had any players out when they lost or who their good players are? They could match up well with NIU and have a real good shooting game and beat us by 20. Doesn't mean NIU is bad.

Again, yes, I've watched 3 and half Mizzou games this season and I saw numerous and attended two games last year. My bro went there, I know all about Mizzou athletics. We should beat them and I will be pretty surprised and upset if we don't. If we don't beat them then I guess we are not as good as I thought we were

Why would they be a bad team if they get beat, here we go gloom and doom!

You're right, if NIU gets beat by 20 against a terrible team that must mean they are a fantastic basketball team!

Missouri is not a horrible basketball team, probably in the middle of the pack in Division 1
