Yes Chuks is definitely not someone you want at the line, Zelis either. The concerns other people posted about Zelis appear to be accurate, he is somewhat soft, but and not real skilled. Hopefully he can mold into something though. My biggest excitement right now and hope for a bright future is A) the assist:turnover ratio I would imagine is about as good as it has been for a long long time, and B) with more scoring options maybe less instances of the extended scoring droughts that have plagued NIU for a decade. Can you imagine if Highsmith is healthy next year and you throw him into this blossoming core. Great things ahead.

I'm optimistic for the first time in years.

The MAC west is not very good, with a down EMU and Toledo and WMU and CMU have been losing to garbage teams. We may have a decent shot at a good seed for the tourney with a home game.

We may also have a good shot at OSU, with them currently sitting at 2-4, and the Kentucky game being 3 days after ours... trap game?

I completely disagree about the MAC west. Toledo has super great young players like NIU and looks really sharp right now.WMU and CMU are each missing their superstar players who will be back soon. Throw into that mix ball state who just stunned probably the best mid major team in the country and there are no gimmes this year. Every night will be a slugfest with this depth and anything over .500 in conference play would be an outstanding achievement

Wait I am confused are you saying the MAC West is not deep this year? There is literally not one "bad" team in the division

This says it all to me right now, the worst team in the MAC has an RPI of 230, and that team, Bowling Green is the ONLY team in the MAC with anything worse than 200 RPI. It is pretty amazing how far this conference has come in such a short time.

I know you WANT the MAC to be amazing at basketball, football, etc. I want that too...the fact is, they are a lower tier conference in most sports. NIU has risen above that in football, but that doesn't mean the conference is good at football. We will see about basketball, obviously things are getting better...but don't tell me the MAC (west) is a great basketball conference.

Thanks for proving my point, two closes losses to two very good programs right now. And I don't know how many times I have to repeat this, BOTH CMU and WMU are minus their BEST players haha. Tava and Fowler have not been playing

So Grand Canyon and JMU would easily compete in the MAC? So the Colonial Athletic and WAC are better than the MAC? Now it's making sense.

We're never going to agree MD. You think the MAC is a great conference in all sports, I feel that there are sometimes great teams within in the MAC. That's the difference. But Other conferences are certainly, as a whole, much better than the MAC. I've got NIU by 6 tonight.
