Temple and Houston probably had the two best defenses in conference. Ole Miss took a step back this year on defense. IMO, FSU, Clemson, VT, Louisville is a different level than anything the AAC has on defense. Even teams like Pit, NC State, and Miami have decent defenses. Memphis did nothing on offense vs. Temple, btw.

My point though is they aren't going to have 8 games or so vs. teams that are just pathetic on defense. I'm sure he'll have more talent to work with at VT, but I'm not sure I would expect them to have an exciting offense and putting up 40 points per game out of the gate.

So Memphis is bringing its WR coach over to VT. I wonder if Zohn is out. I would love to have him back in some capacity.

If Zohn wanted back I am sure we would find away to bring him back, but I think we would write a contract that favors us this time around. Also...he flipped a couple of players to Hokie High, I bet now they are wishing they didn't commit to VT. Committing to a flailing P5 program is a risk. If they want to transfer back to us they have to sit out a year. Ouch !

Bobby Wilder, head coach, Old Dominion

Wilder is quietly building Old Dominion into a consistent winner in Conference USA. The Monarchs resurrected their football program in 2007 and played their first game in 2009. Wilder guided the program to a 17-5 record in its first two seasons (2009-10) and two playoff appearances from 2011-12. Old Dominion transitioned to the FBS level prior to 2013 and is 11-13 over the last two years. Wilder runs a high-powered offense and knows how to build a program from the ground level.

Im sure he does, but Chip Kelly has to want UVA. He likely can pick where ever he wants to go; ie Maryland, Miami, Georgia, and other schools that would probably be more enticing.

I've got a feeling if BW leaves for another program he is going to take all our coaches with Maine connection.

If Wilder stays and retires from ODU I can see Ron Whitcomb becoming the next ODU coach.

I hope it doesn't happen but Mark Richt would be a great hire for UVA.

Also, where does London go from here? If I'm not mistaken, one of his children goes to ODU.... Maybe he'd like to help out the Monarchs?

But he did it in the AAC with a great QB so there are still question marks. Its just a different level of competition so early to tell.

Yes that is true. But he was an OC for three years prior at a P5 school that avg over 45 points a game for 3 years.

He could spend more time with his daughter. She is a Sophomore at ODU.

I have thought this would be a good fit, but I'm not sure it's an easy still to the fanbase.

At least he'd fit right in with his starched white shirt and tie. The guy does nothing for me, and I think you're right. The fan base would not be happy with an in conference retread.

If Kelly goes back to the college ranks, I could see him at Southern Cal over UVA.

Boy that SB Nation list was long. I had to double check to make sure my name wasn't on the list.
