Thoughts from my 1st game watched this season
We look to be in way better shape than last year. Our conditioning looks great out there.

Dedric is gifted, relies too much on his hs game. He'll need to adjust, showed some great promise at the Dirk Nowitzki style point forward when we went on a big run. He also showed his frosh tendencies with 3 straight turnovers after that.

Shaq looks great, but I imagine him being bullied by bigger boys down low.

After the hi-lo, it looks like we are improvising on offense. When the fouls go our way, that might be to our advantage, guards are quick and we have a few that can shoot.

Defense looks way more tenacious although I'm not sure about the bigs defending the rim at all.

Overall, a long way to go, but definitely have some potential to turn in a good year.

Pretty much yes.
Team also shot nearly 78% from the line.

Shoot 61 or 63% like in the last game...and we lose.

Dedric is terrific but no question he uses HS habits sometime...to be expected. Upside is tremendous and he is already good.

Note...Kedren has not played yet this season.

Tar rant seems ok but we are definitely missing a floor general.

Do you expect a big difference if Kedren plays? He did not seem all that spectacular last year or certainly any better than some of our other options this year.

Kedren was playing better at the very end of the season last year. I am a little surprised he isn't getting minutes when we are in a half court game. Appears Josh is trying to get us running as much as possible and Kedren likely wouldn't be at his best but still, not even seeing the floor?

I think Martin is doing fine. Plays really good def, handles the ball well enough, and can knock down a three. As long as we just need him for spot duty in place of Tarrant, I think we are ok. I dont know whether Kedren will play at all this year. Perhaps, only in case of emergency???

Too many turnovers for Dedric. And played rather selfishly last night. Josh shoulda let Tarrant drive more. He is good at drawing fouls and is a good free throw shooter.

If we shot 78% in the games we lost we would have won. A lot of it just depends on who's shooting free throws.

If Tarrant keeps going to the line 16 times we are gonna to win a lot of these games. I was shocked how well Shaq shot. He must have spent some extra time practicing.

That's his game. The ball should be in Tarrant's hands not Lawson's in critical situations. Not to detract from Lawson but Tarrant makes better decisions and can consistently make free throws. At the end of regulation I would have cleared out and let Tarrant drive to the basket instead of doing the high low thing.

Josh fell in love with the high low action because Shaq made a couple, but late in the game he only got a ten foot fadeaway.

Yeah, the up and under moves work, the 5-8 foot turnaround too but the 10-12 turnaround not so much. I honestly think on one of those shots Shaq didn't know exactly where he was when he shot.
