Yeah the ACC was very weak then. If you look at some of their results, you would be underwhelmed. Must be nice to play in a conference where you can lose 2 games (one of them to James Madison) and still make the Orange Bowl. They subsequently got smashed by Stanford though.

It's fun to throw up stats like this and let people marvel at how VT has the same # of big bowls as ALA. VT is a fine program, but nowhere close to what Bama has been historically or during the Saban era.

Correct.

No one has been equating VT to Alabama.

In fact...it has been stressed that VT makes sense as a move because it is not an Alabama or a Southern Cal, but is a place you can do very well, as proven by several seasons of elite level play.

Makes sense from the VT perspective too.
