I would have certain concerns about Kiffen (especially the question of his long-term commitment), but he definitely has assets which I think are extremely valuable: FBS head coach experience, name recognition, recruiting prowess and speaking ability.

RE: IF General Fuente Goes...
The Big Guys knows this why they would be willing to committ to Kiffen and His Staff if General Justin Fuente does leave, again Which Isn't a Given, but he is talking and Listening....But Key for Kiffen will be IF General Fuente goes to be able to conivince Brad Cornelson to stay on and he would have to intice him maybe with a big raise and Assistant HC-OC- QB coach, and then convince Mario to Be O-line Coach Maybe even Co-OC and then Convince maybe Coach O Barry Odom to come back as DC with Coach In waiting Title in place....Why would Barry Listen because we aren't bad right now and have talent and Depth back on this team, Plus Kiffen, His staff of Recruiters would bring in More talent and depth, And as We continue to Win and IF lane Kiffen got a bigger Job he would probably get it faster...Because Him Moving up to a Bigger Job would also mean we too are moving up as we continue the winning and Then Barry would be more ready to be HC and then Take over and just keep it rolling, while learning a little more from Lane Kiffen and his staff on Blazing the Recruiting trail.....But all that depends on General Justin Fuente leaving which still may not even happen....Plus Kendall Briles would be in the hat as would Sonny Cumbie, And Yes Barry Odom, Plus a few others.....The World Is Ours Memphis....

Heard this from a weak source, hope the Dude is wrong as usual, but a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Recruits would certainly have option to leave, but if a Dude like kiffin or Odom rolled in they probably would stay. I worry more about Brady Davis following the General after he saw him develop Paxton. However, it would be a good idea to fill the L.B.for the smu.game to show the team and coaches how much we enjoyed the season.

most football recruits are not signed, so they are free to go wherever they want.
Brady Davis and all of the Freshmen would have to sit out a year if they transferred

RE: IF General Fuente Goes...
I don't think other colleges are as high on Fuente, after the last three loses. Not that Fuente is not a hot comodity. But, dropping a few games after a lot of hype will slow down a lot of considerations. I would love to see Fuente stay a few more years. I hope he can get us national attention and go far next year. But, I think the longer Fuente stays in Memphis, the better our football program becomes. He is setting up Memphis as a consistent bowl contendor, which brings in national attention, helps recruting and his coaching is creating a legacy among the players of hard playing ethics and good solid football basics. He is like the Gene Bartow's of Memphis Tigers' football. He is putting the Memphis football program to a national level on a long term basis.
So, if Fuente leaves, I wish him well. But, we are lucky to have him another year or two, to build on his past success.

RE: IF General Fuente Goes...
If we hire Lane Kiffen we might actually jeopardize funding and projects for the entire university. The absolute hatred for that man in East Tennessee is vicious. Hire him, and the university will lose funding and support from all kinds of people in state government. This is a poison move and simply MUST not be considered.
