Fun times. Glad the Tribe pulled their head out of the sand there and got the job done.

Hope Whitman is good to go. That looked nasty.

Welp, 25 point win with bench guys bringing it home. Played Tribe ball for the last 12...need to do that for 40 minutes.

I'm glad they turned on the afterburners at the end, but we let these guys hang around way too long.

Bizarre game. Won by a lot but it didn't feel good. Lots to work on - offense will be scary when there's start falling.

Are they flying to Dayton or taking a bus? It would be nice if they have some time there to work the kinks out.

I've now watched three games. Tribe is consistently playing good D, rebounding well on D, and really looking to score, and score early, on O.

Didn't like the Whitman injury...hopefully it's not serious.

Tribe TV is just awesome!

As for Saturday, I don't see how they have anything left in the tank for that game. They've played a lot of basketball, predominantly on the road, in this first week.

I too will be surprised if they play well on Saturday. Anyone remember which shoulder Whitman has had problems with? Looked like he may have dislocated shoulder the way he was holding it.

Sounds like Seacat will be thrown into the fire sooner than expected. Sucks about Whitman, but we need the next man to step up.

From what I've seen so far, I'm optimistic that Seacat will be up to the challenge.

We just can't afford foul trouble for him or Sheldon.

Jack came back to the bench shortly after getting hurt. He did not even have ice on it at first, but then they put some ice on the side of his shoulder. Tony said in the post game that it "breaks your heart" when he saw Jack hurt the shoulder again, but he sort of indicated that he thought that he would be okay and hopefully would play on Saturday.

RE: Washington Adventist
Washington Adventist is an NAIA school and has some pretty good talent from what I saw. You don't face too many push over schools with a 6'10" kid who can score. Bridgeforth was pretty solid around the basket and would get a lot of minutes or even start for us. The other 6'10" kid was decent too. Just because nobody has heard of them doesn't mean they are a bunch of chumps.

With that said, we were playing to them the first 25 minutes of the game and couldn't put them away in the first half.

Whitman played soft before he got hurt. He's a very good athlete and you can see some of that now that he is/was healthy. I could see him improving and getting more minutes as the season goes on, but he can't shy away from contact which he did over and over last night. The play where he hurt himself was actually a really athletic play if you go back and watch it.

All in all I'll take the win. I think we'll win Saturday if we play with intensity and bring a little bit of nastiness to Dayton. Don't want to get boat raced in front of their crowd.

RE: Washington Adventist
While we played poorly for stretches (Tony called it "reverting to one on one basketball with quick, difficult shots"), at times we played with great intensity despite being ice cold from 3-point land.

All in all, I was impressed..some comments"

*Team speed is remarkable--Cohn is a racehorse and gets the ball down court as fast as anyone we've had.
Sure, he gets out of control sometimes but his overall contribution is major. His competitiveness is contagious.

*Tarpey is really something to behold. 110% every second, every time. Five steals and three blocked shots last night. Second five steal game in the three we've played!

*Omar looks poised for a huge year. His variety of shots and bursts of quickness are impressive. Love it when he posts up. One night he's going to score 40+ points.

*Seacat really looks like the real deal. Great hands and very good foot movement to go with strength and bulk. Is going to play. Just wait until he gets an off-season in the weight room; he'll be a stud.

*Tot looked ok for first outing. Tony said he's had only two practices since out for three weeks with ankle injury. I like him and he will play lots more.

*Team defense is much better thus far than in past years. Very good switching and they play a tight zone.
Dixon, Tarpey and Prewitt long arms and length tough to score on. Omar easily looks longer than last year--he's now 6-7 and still growing.

*Schlotman terrific ball handler and tough defender. Will he, however, ever shoot the ball?

*Burchfield and Malinowski had mediocre games last night, but they are talented and (especially Malinowski)
very fluid on the court.

All that said, this team will be tired for Dayton game and Dayton well rested. I really don't expect much from us for Saturday's game at a place where home team has 23-game win streak, many double didget wins.
Their 6-11, 280 pound center is good--he murdered Alabama in the post.

Thursday/Saturday game pattern is the practice the team needs preparing for conference play. May not be conducive to being ready for Dayton, but it's what's coming weekly starting in January.

It seemed to me that Seacat added a needed spark when he got in. In about two minutes he had an assist, a basket, a block, and a near steal that gave us possession. Even if Whitman gets healthy, we might see Seacat stealing some minutes as he gets more comfortable.
