It is very difficult to impress WMU fans... they(we) all think WMU is the second coming of Jesus.

Gotcha. I hope by the end of the season you don't view this loss as an embarrassment. This is a good team. Cheers!

As well it should be.

RE: Western Michigan
Game assesment:

1. WMU is a good team and is well coached definitely. They were all over Ponder's left hand and had the size to disrupt his drives. Their motion was impressive in a half court. And they made direct drives to the hole difficult in the half court.
2. The starting lineup REALLY blew my mind-Talley is our PG...but I already stated that. Flemmings IS the best WF and he's proven that. Yes, get CJ out there somehow because he's very talented but is just a freshman-heck he can play 1,2 or 3 so yes, he needs some minutes. If anybody's keeping score....Hawks went on their 1st half run once Talley penetrated and dished. That was his intention and he knew where his shooters were. Inside out 3 balls work all day. He made a BIG difference out there. And his ball pressure is second to none. That's HUGE for how UNCW plays.
3. Ingram has to go straight up on his J-nice stroke, but % goes up with fundamentals.
Fading away without a need hurts you. He's better than that and that's why the % is what it is. He's a good shooter and will hopefully get that cleaned up.
4. Cacok is a keeper. Great athleticism and body control. Will project even higher over time as he can move over to a 4. Good PF already and will only get better.
5. Refs really hampered UNCW's press. It's a point of emphasis so they have to adjust.
6. Hawks press wore down WMU. I knew that it wasn't over because they couldn't keep hitting all those shots and nobody is used to that style. See VCU and Louisville...same thing.
7. What about Flemmings? I saw it in the Bahamas. Kid has game and is perfect for this system. Nice 3 man without question!
8. Hats off to Sherwood. Yes, he was really off, but kept shooting 3 balls and hit 2 big ones late. I've always valued what somebody does late when it matters.
9. Ogbodo really helped while being sick. He wasn't the typical enforcer with blocks but WMU was very smart.
10. Hawks escape and go to 3 and 0. It wasn't pretty, but WMU had a lot to do with that. They are well coached and will go on to be good over time.
11. UNCW was favored but they may not have covered... doesn't matter to me because I don't bet.

Thanks for all the commentary so those of us that missed it could be up to speed. My son got sick yesterday so I spent the evening monitoring him.

Sounds like I missed another great game.

Thanks for stopping by Nacho and Haymond. You guys seem like you're top shelf. Good luck to WMU in the MAC. Go get 'em Broncos!

Watched coach Hawkins during and after the game. He showed nothing but class.

Hahaha. It's all good. I give out my share around here. I have thick skin and can take it.

To be fair. I have four seats. Let me know if any of you clowns are gonna make the drive for the UNCW game.

One thing to add to Bill's excellent summary: Trask was rocking again last Saturday! Student section was full and rowdy. The place got pretty loud at times. Fun!

Noticed we were over 4,000 in attendance for WMU game. Not bad for OOC.
