Let's get excited about Masha
In trying to find some silver lining about the 2015 Flames, how about QB in waiting Stephon Masha? I really want this kid to succeed and he's patiently waiting his time and has filled in admirably when called upon. He's the opposite of Woodrum. A quick, mobile passer and good running QB vs. the traditional drop back passer. Let's hope he can get that 3 yards on 3rd down either running or passing. I'm excited to have him get his opportunity next year. The offense should be more exciting with his runs and, with his threat to run, that adds another dimension lacking with Woodrum.
Woodrum's occassional bombs to Petey and others were impressive. Let's hope we develop Masha's skill set to both pass run and keep defenses wondering. An option that has been missing for quite some time.

Woodrum is mobile enough. I think was was (sadly) our leading rusher today. But I'm tired of his limited skill set and his lack of improvement. We have nothing to play for but pride now, put the future quarterback in. Woodrum had his shot to finish his senior year strong and blew it whether it was his fault or not, whether that's fair or not. I'm not worried about fair, I'm worried about the future and Woodrum isn't it.

I'd start Woodrum on Thursday. If he plays well, let him start the second half. If he falters in any way in the second half, or if things go awry in the first half, give Masha playing time.

There's no way you bench Woodrum for the last game of his career. That's just not going to happen. The guy that owns several of Liberty's qb's records should have the right to finish as a winner. I'm not a huge fan of how he had led the team, but he's done what the coach's have asked of him.

Woodrum deserves respect for his efforts. He does not get a concrete pass, especially if he plays poorly. We can expect him and the whole team to be deflated with the CSU loss. We can expect CCU to come to Lynchburg breathing fire and want to make a statement. Pride is all the Flames have to play for. In event self motivation is insufficient to produce great play from Woodrum, let Masha play the 4th quarter. Woodrum owns the LU and BS records. All he would be doing now would be to padding his records. Take him out at a time during the latter part of the game so he can be acknowledged by fans. It's been done in the past and would be appropriate to do it Thursday.

Hope we improve our offensive line next season. This was a long for our QB and RB's.

Masha is a mobile quarterback, more so than Woodrum. That would be helpful behind a poor offensive line, and it would have the element of surprise to use against Coastal.
Woodrum had his shot and blew it, fairly or not. Masha is our future just as Woodrum replaced a hurt quarterback as a freshman. It is almost poetic. We need to do what is right for the future of Liberty, not what is right for Woodrum. I believe that is getting someone some valuable live game experience to see if he has what it takes to move our program forward.

It's a fine line for Thursday's game, and Woodrum's last, on how he plays. Let him start and if he is succeeding, let his stay in. If he coasts or fails, then use Masha. Masha will have plenty time in camps to get his reps. The goal against Coastal is to win the game and whoever is the best let them lead the charge.
