I'm not sure how someone that rich can be that oblivious. We lost to new Mexico state and got blown out by Georgia State.

Without the fields backing we can look forward to having Fran until he decides to retire

But the injuries or something like that. Too bad our our offensive weapons are still playing and still suck with the play calling.

We have more than enough talent on this roster to be belt champs... we are obviously underachieving.

I personally think Fran is a good coach. I with the fields there... but even if we had Vince Lombardi at the helm it wouldn't make a difference if he didn't have the confidence of the locker room. Which Fran clearly doesnt

I'm just curious, Based on what is he a good coach?

He's 25-32, probably 25-33 after Thursday and has exactly 1 FBS win against schools with winning records . . . and that was a Beat to Hell Red Wolves club last year. . .

Now looking at the overall record, I'll grant that he may have been a good coach

I would appreciate it if y'all could focus on this point a bit more. Just in case it's the only time I ever get to read those words during football season.

(Also, I hope it's obvious that's not to be taken as smack, just genuine surprise at the the turn this season has taken.)

It is not his call. Fields is a donor. He is part of the alumni. His money gives him the opportunity to voice his opinion. He does not make the decisions on hiring and firing of Texas State employees.

I personally think that Coach Fran needs to go, but if the decision is made to retain him, then at a minimum changes need to be made within the coaching staff. A new Defensive Coordinator needs to be brought in to fix that mess. Changes on the offense are needed, possibly one guy to coordinate the offense and call plays. Recruiting and player development need to be looked at. I am just not seeing the talent on this roster.

No way they can bring Fran and the whole coaching staff back and just use injuries as an excuse for this past season. The defensive issues were there in 2014. There is not one coach on the current coaching staff that I think can coordinate a defense and fix the defensive issues. I am not sure there is a 21st century offensive coordinator on this staff.

Would decent be better? He used to be a good coach. Probably poor word choice on my part. I was drunk when I posted that.

As of last year we were a much better team than the one he inherited. I'm not saying we were good, just better. Of course that's not saying much.

No insult intended. We were 4th in the conference last year and now we may be the worst.

I think he read it as a compliment...as Panther fans will enthusiastically explain, I don't think we've seen "blown out by Georgia State" since 2012's only win against Rhode Island. Given what Miles had to clean up, "blown out by Georgia State" feels...I dunno...good. "Blown out by Georgia State," feels good typing too!

(Just messin Texas State fans...us Panther fans know well the pain).

Thanks for the clarification . . . .04-cheers

The difference in the two teams couldn't have been more obvious. As someone stated on our board, GSU players jumping up and down, yelling, fired up about playing. TxSt players totally listless, looking like all they wanted was to find their cell phones so they could "social network".

Oh yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I just didn't want my comment to be taken as smack directed at TXST, since as you note, we know the pain oh so well.

Speaking of things Beed. John Brady announces his resignation 48 hours ago, and you didn't post once in the thread with some sort of witty thing about what he's done to our basketball program? I'm disappointed.

there's nothing i could come up with that would equal what he's done.

you guys are proof of karma. even though you've been nut-kicked by first dick nutt and then john brady on the hoops side of things you have enjoyed hella run in football through changes in coaching staffs that i don't know if i'll ever see again. truly incredible to be honest.

i wasn't impressed when you guys hired brady. i felt he lucked into a final four if one can do that. if you took that year out he was really a mediocre coach. and back then you had some of your fans sticking that in people's faces too. "HE'S BEEN TO THE FINAL FOUR".

he never did 'build' a team at stAte as much as cobbled them together. but i always felt he had decent enough coaching chops that halfway through a season his teams were hard as hell to beat. never a gimme. but they'd start out so bad it looked like you were losing to a bad team on paper.

i think his tyrannical nature wears on players. kermit davis used to be that way and by the time guys were juniors and seniors they were done with him. kermit has toned it down and has enjoyed more success.

and then your fans went on and on about his wife. i thought she looked like the broad on napolean dynamite:

and i know there are hoops fans in jonesboro. or there used to be. i don't know if you can get them back. as successful as you've been making the right hire in football there is absolutely no reason you can't do the same in hoops.

we only put up with ken pol pot mcdummy mcdonald for 3 and 1/2 years. and it SUCKED ASSSSSS by then end. i can't imagine how ya'll have put up with dick nutt and john brady this many years.

good luck in his replacement.
