The lead role is set. Now all that’s needed is an understudy.
Senior Dustin Almond will once again start at quarterback for the University of Southern Mississippi football team this season. The second-string position is still up for grabs with Jeremy Young and Travis Clark competing to be Almond’s backup.
Who occupies the backup role, however, has yet to be determined and probably will still be up in the air until close to the season’s kickoff Sept. 4 against Tulane.
