Former EMU DC Phil Snow
I was watching Temple v Southern Methodist and heard the name Phil Snow. He was our DC a few years ago and is in the same position at Temple.

Here is some of what the Temple web site has to sat about him.

Under Snow’s guidance, EMU ranked 38th nationally and third in the MAC in pass defense in 2012. The Eagles gave up just 212.75 yards per game. Senior LB Justin Cudworth and senior DE Andy Mulumba were second-team All-Mid-American Conference honorees.

Snow orchestrated a major turnaround during the 2011 campaign, ranking 35th nationally and third in the MAC in total defense. The Eagles gave up 350.3 yards per game, an improvement of 103.8 yards per contest. In 12 games, the Eagles’ defense allowed just 292 points for a total of 24.3 points per game. The last EMU squad to accomplish the feat was the 1994 team which gave up 275 points through its 11 contests.

Yep, when Phil Snow left it was the beginning of the end for our defense.

We had a DC who had the resume to be a MAC HC and EMU is not noted for having a big budget to pay top $ for assistant coaches.

Details matter.

Teams didn't have to pass on us that is why we ranked so high against the pass.

Mr. Snow gave up 40 to a 1-8 SMU team last night that is also part of the 'bottom 10'.

According to Temple, in 2011 we were third in the MAC and 35th nationally in total defense.

ESPN stats say that the Temple D is in the top 30 for both total yards and points. Not sure if it included last night's game.

Overall stats say they're good. Just sayin the first time I actually saw them play, last night against a very bad SMU team, they laid an egg. Would love to have the guy here, McCaslin has a lot to prove.

Temple did not come to play last night before a small crowd in Texas coming off their big, big game vs. ND.

I watched I guess the 4th quarter (maybe some of the 3rd, too) when SMU had a real chance late to pull the upset.

BTW, guys, one game does not a season make (40 points last night).

Here is Temple for the year. Forty was the season high.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/218

Gave up 10 to Penn State. Twenty four for to ND.

Please come home, Phil, please...

RE: Former EMU DC Phil Snow
For sure we were better off with Snow but that 6-6 year was really an aberration. His defenses were near the bottom in 2010 and 2012.
