I think the winds of change are swirling and UAB may be poised for some dynamic growth unlike we have ever seen.

I think they are right... the support was not there before. But it was because they would not allow us to do fundraising like they are allowing now. They fail to mention that little caveat.

The support was always there but they never feel pressure before

I wonder if this would have passed if PBJr was still on the board.

RE: 2 things just passed at BOT meeting
Huge news! Let's continue to be positive about the future. Lets keep the "I still don't trust the BOT" statements to a minimum. Whatever we are doing right now is working. Lets keep that trend

Go Blazers![/align]

Question for our resident builder, what would $12 million to $15 million for a football building allow us to build compared to other programs?

By the time the BOT's "friends" rake theirs off the top, we could wind up with a couple of Quonset huts built end to end. I still hope those artist's renderings are for real and the hostile BOT games are indeed over..

Jack Williams and Jennifer Clark are both giving Clay Ryan big props for getting this resolution done.

They have never even let us designate a single dime of contributions to football before.

Take a look around. Point out to me one permanent structure on that campus that says "We play football here", and the dentist's office with FOOTBALL down the side doesn't count.

Maybe you weren't around for his "know your role" letter to the NAS after the OCS fiasco.

Or maybe you missed him putting the kibosh on the totally booster-funded rug on the practice field just last year, you know, BEFORE the decision to kill football was made?

Fess St. John is no friend of UAB football. I'm glad Clay-Chalkville boat raced Cullman out of the stadium last night.

I'm aware of all of those things. I still don't think that UAB has ever had a legitimate and genuinely organized network of financial support for football like the one it seemingly has now from the various business interests that have elected to support us, after years of ignoring us. I think that drastic change alone makes his statement accurate, but that's an unimportant point given today's great news.

In re: Clay, I don't think there is a defense in 6A that can stop y'all, but I think there are offenses in 6A y'all can't stop. Some serious shoot-outs are coming your way in the next few rounds.

That's fine. Just remember, when dealing with that Cullman ambulance-chaser, smile big and cover your testicles with both hands.

Do you think being allowed to fundraise specifically for football would have brought some of these not UAB attached big names in to the fold? Would we have Hatton, Craft, etc. on board? While there's a lot behind that statement that is because of the board, there's a way in which it's still true.
