I get we are down this year, but they are a recent startup, like us, and they just lost to a North Texas team that was rolled by middle of the Big Sky pack Portland State at home 66-0. Not sure from where the arrogance originates, but now sincerely hope that Charlotte kicks their arse when they meet.
Take another look, that thread is about their loss to UNT. Somebody just bumped it today.

Not sure the questioning of the play calling. We put up like 500 yards once again and its 4 straight great offensive games. (Yardage wise). Points wise the only bad one was FIU.
We just need DW to improve in the red zone. His accuracy has been tested there in close quarters.
I think they are still figuring out how to get it into the endzone with the DW version of this offense, but things looked much improved in the second half. He throws the fade/jump ball pretty well, and the outside runs were effective as well. Is fun watching DW he he gets a little better and adds a new wrinkle to his arsenal every week. This week he did a great job of scrambling and stepping up in the pocket to make throws and exploiting the middle for nice runs.

I hope we develop a great rivalry with UNCC, and I'm glad we managed to come back for the W in our game. However I will be rooting for them against UTSA.

I wouldn't take it as arrogance. Going in to that UTSA game, ODU looked pretty weak to anyone not looking at us from the inside.
That said, I think we might have found a way to stay out of the bottom 25 for the rest of the year. At least I hope we have.

With you there. 12th ______ or _______ Nation is low-hanging fruit. It'd be nice to have a distinctive name for the fanbase. Either something that plays off the mascot, like The Pride or The Den, or something that plays off the nickname, like The Court or The Kingdom.

Why don't we come up with it and try to spread it in a grassroots effort? Then it seems a lot more genuine and not some corny thing made up by the administration.

RE: Week 10 - UTSA
Observations from San Antonio:
Local paper barely gave the game a mention Sunday morning. Spurs are clearly the main attraction.
Alamodome is big, that's about all I can say. No amenities, very bare bones. No luxury suites
PA announcer excellent. He is a huge part of in game experience and hearing a real PA really contrasts with ours. We are missing something big here.
They sell beer at the games, didn't see anybody to rowdy, but the potential is there.
Tail gating restricted to season ticket holders who all park in parking lot. Very good atmosphere. Live bands outside. generally more lively and vocal then us Easterners.
For all you complaining about early leavers, UTSA has same problem. Even in a domed venue with seat backs, in a very close game, fans were leaving in droves at the half and all during second half.
Students have to ride school supplied bus's to game, really cuts down attendance
Fans basically ignored us, no smack talk.
UTSA alumni association appears to be very well organized and financed. Lots of tents, although this was homecoming.
Homecoming- PA asked alumni to stand and take a bow, lots of games during game involving fans on the field. alumni band members participated with band, made
it look bigger then it is.
Overall, I sensed they have the infrastructure in place, but venue location may limit student involvement.
I'm not quite as impressed with UTSA as I thought I would be and have questions about their long term potential. Guess time will tell.

RE: Week 10 - UTSA
Forgot to mention, I do not have a head count, but ODU was well represented in my opinion. We've had far fewer visiting fans at our home games from schools much, much closer. At the end of the game the players all came over to our section and shook hands and high fived. Goose bumps baby!!

I heard some ODU chants during the game on TV.

I probably missed any reference to this, but how was the turnout for the big screen at Town Point Park?

Our soccer games were cancelled because of the rain so we went out for pizza and then nobody wanted to go to Town Point Park.

If it ended up being a dud because of the weather I hope they don't throw the towel on a future event like that. I thought it was a really cool idea.

RE: Week 10 - UTSA
I feel bad for the UTSA fans. It'd be nice if they can get a better situation for getting students to and from the games.
The shuttle thing would be nice for those that wanted to have a few beers. However for those that did want to leave early for what ever reason, or wanted to get dinner after a game would be SOL.
BTW, I was messing around on their site and I saw that parking passes for commuters are around $800 for the year!!
Ugh.
