You didn't "cut the cord." You are simply stealing it.
A Sling login is a paid subscription to a "live feed" streaming service that pays ESPN cable fees and the other cable channels it includes, and the ESPN3 fee as well. So in what sense would that be "stealing the cord"?

Not sure why you say that. WatchESPN allows me to see MANY games, and not just garbage games between G5 or FCS schools, but many good P5 games, on my phone or laptop when I'm away from home, and if you simply connect your phone or laptop to your HDTV, you get the same big-screen video quality and experience as you get with any regular ESPN channel.

It's awesome, IMO.

Consider the source.

This should be fun. How am I stealing?

I think many of us are looking for ways to cut our cable bills. I pay COX about $160 a month for internet (not very high-speed, LOL) and cable. I get HBO, all the sports channels, and have two HD boxes. That is too much, the very limit of what I am willing to pay, and they are constantly trying to increase it.

Last month, i got a bill for $198. That meant spending about a half-hour on the phone with their "customer retention" rep. I do this about every six months. The conversation goes like this:

Me: I see my cable bill just jumped from $160 a month to $200 a month. Why?

COX: Well, a bunch of discounts just expired.

Me: Well, can we get those discounts applied to my bill again, $200 is too much.

COX: Nope, they have expired. Let's see what services we can cut to get your bill down to $160 ...

Me: Not interested in cutting services, just interested in keeping my bill at around $160.

COX: Well, I'm very sorry sir, but the only way we can keep your bill at $160 is by cutting services. Do you watch HBO much?

Me: The AT&T U-verse guy was here the other day. Looks like I'm going to have give him a call back.

COX: Let me talk to my supervisor. ... (5 minutes later) .... Sir! Great News! My supervisor and I have found some discounts that will keep your bill right around $160!

Me: Sounds good. Thanks. Bye.

It's a royal hassle. 07-coffee3

The exact same thing is going to happen to Sling subscribers, soon enough.

I enjoy a lot of the smaller games on ESPN3. If you love the game then you are happy that ESPN puts as many games on as it does.

When I read it, I was unaware that sling had added WatchESPN, so it sounded like he was using someone else's WatchESPN "login." My mistake.

RE: ESPN3
Technically, having a Sling login is unnecessary for most people to watch ESPN3 content.

Just having an ISP account with Comcast, for example, gets you in the door. You don't need any cable TV subscription, at all.
