I'm not saying VT won't (foolishly) throw a bunch of money at him, but IMO it would be a mistake.

Now if they want to get Herman (Houston) or Fuente (Memphis), I say throw the money at those guys because they are worth it!!!

At this point I don't think anybody at VT knows who the next coach will be... or even if Beamer will return next season.
Why Herman? He is using someone else's recruits. Houston has a good team, but not been tested by a great team yet.

I see a lot of people say that Bud Foster should be the next HC but it doesn't seem the admins think he is HC material. He has stated publicly many times that he hates recruiting and he's really not that good at it. Most great head coaches are also really good recruiters. Bud is a great DC but I don't think he'd make a great HC.
