Wow, talk about two criminally underrated teams. Both finished 12-1 with wins over P5 programs, yet they finished only #10 (UCF) and #15 (Louisville) in the final poll. In the final BCS rankings before the bowl games, 11-1 UCF was ranked #15, behind 3-loss Arizona State!
What I find interesting is that Fresno State that same year was ranked as high as #13 in the coaches poll during the regular season, but UCF and Louisville in a much tougher conference could barely break the Top 20. This year, if Houston, Memphis, or Temple goes 12-1 in the regular season, I would hope that they'd be right up there within striking distance of a playoff spot, but 2013 paints a somewhat dark picture about the AAC's standing among voters.
It makes me wonder: has the AAC regained enough prestige to be able to contend for a playoff spot this year?

Playoff spot or access bowl? Playoff is going to be near impossible

Both teams were under ranked in the final polls. It was disgusting. Ville must have had 10-12 NFL players on that team. UCF beat the Big 12 champ.

I would guess there were close to 20 players on that field that made NFL rosters including two starting NFL QBs, crazy

Louisville was a much tougher game than the Fiesta Bowl. Louisville had a secondary that could cover our WRs and a d-line that pressured Bortles at times. UCF pushed Baylor's d-line around right out of the gate. When the refs finally started calling the blatant holding their secondary was doing to keep up with our WRs it was over.
In hindsight, the AAC was a better conference than the Big12 that year.
Still a painful night of us but UCF was the better team..that Louisville team was our most talented ever..right now out of 22 starters on offense and defense 11 Louisville starters along with 3 backups-(14 Louisville players overall) that played in that game are now on current NFL Rosters/Payroll with 5 being full time starters as true NFL Rookies or 2nd year guys.
But UCF was extremely underrated...only a 3 point loss at home to Top 10 South Carolina from being undefeated...Storm Johnson along with Bortles killed us.
