When you have a kicker that ain't gonna miss, the red zone scoring is automatic.

If you notice on defense, the red zone defense is respectable and the 3rd down defense is very respectable where the opposing offense typically is in short to intermediate yards to go. Add this to our exceptional run stop defense and what is happening is that the tigers secondary is letting up on the big 20+ pass plays (the bombs) but is holding ground on short to intermediate plays. Got to clean that up somehow

The short field is better for our secondary. Our Achilles heel this year is the deep ball.

That does not count The Red Zone is inside the 20. So a field goal from the 36 is not a Red Zone play.

So, one way to look at it is......if our secondary has a long pass completion to deal with....just tackle the receiver and do it inside the 20 and there is a good chance we can hold them. Maybe we should also interfere on all those long passes and hope the penalty takes the opposing team within the 20 or into a short yardage situation so we can hold them. The odds against them scoring would be more in our favor if defensive backs interfered with the receiver on long passes, especially if they have a bad field goal kicker. I guess that would require some calculations to see if it made sense.

LOS was the 19 so yes it was in the red zone. If your post was sarcastic my bad.

I am posting this at 5 AM in the morning. I woke up and said to myself...."Myself...wait, you can kick a 36 yard field goal and be in the red zone".
So, I grabbed my lap top and was going to correct my post and you beat me to it. Sorry, my bad. Somehow I was thinking the kick was from the 36 yard line which was not what you said. Actually, even if it was kicked from the 36 it could still be a red zone play if the team had penetrated the 20 and lost 16 or more yards and kicked a field goal . So.... I am going back to sleep.
