RE: App State receiving votes in AP poll!!
In our 6 wins, our opponents are averaging 8.8 points a game against us, with 14 being the ceiling, and many of those points coming in garbage time. Offensively, I don't see Troy being significantly better than Wyoming or Georgia Southern. I just can't see them getting to 20. Also, in our wins, we haven't scored less than 31 and are averaging 43 points a game. I don't see Troy as a superior defensive team as our opponents and being able to hold us to under 30. I'm going to go with 33-17, good guys.

I couldn't be happier with the position App is in right now, but I don't consider any of our remaining games to be "guaranteed" wins. I know that (at this point) App will be favored, but all the remaining teams have athletes who represent threats if we don't play our best. The thing that gives me confidence in this year's team is that they seem to bring intensity EVERY week (possible exception of the Wyoming game which I attribute to weather).

I'm also not mad at the Troy player for the "dominate" comment. It probably wasn't a wise thing to say, but why the heck would I blame a kid for believing he can play with a conference opponent. I don't expect any other team's players (or fans for that matter) to concede before the game is played. Yeah....that interview is probably bulletin board material in App's locker room (which is why it wasn't wise), but how bout we just play some football.

I think App will handle this game, but I think it will be a competitive game. A team that "believes" (Troy) is dangerous.

Let me ask you a question. If all games have game week threads to discuss said games, is every one of them a pissing match? Or does this just happen when there are opposing fans who can't agree on who is going to win and who is going to lose?

If you read my post, I made it pretty clear that I don't expect other fans to agree with our position. That's the nature of things. My post was actually made in jest (note the smiley face) but to answer the question, MOST threads DO become pissing contests at some point. That's what is is once it reaches the point where the same points are being regurgitated repeatedly over and over and over and it simply become chest thumping. It's part of the process and is how people get "up" for the game, so I'm not being overly critical. I'm just ready for the actual game!

Considering how G5 teams usually get these votes based on impressions, App may actually lose votes this week as UNC/TAMU/USC simply switch places with Pitt/Duke/Temple.

Tamponu will probably be ranked due to the SEC tag, UNC will probably replace the team they beat but USC I find doubtful since they have 3 losses, the PAC12 is considered weak this year, and they only beat a team which is now also a 3 loss team.

Nail on the head. Lost votes in the AP but did get one in the coaches. I think it has more to do with current conf rep than what App does on the field. Any team with a big win is going to get more cred than what App has left. I think they have to blow out ArkSt to have a chance in cracking the top 25 before the end of the year. I still think with a good bowl win they are in by the the final rankings if nothing else.

We lost votes, but still moved up in the AP rankings.

Just means more votes are headed to the teams in the top 25 and less to the ones on the outside looking in. Points outside went from 225 to 199. Losing votes is the bigger deal but like I said that has nothing to do with App necessarily. Win out and beat a decent bowl team and you are in I believe.
