American Athletic
Memphis 7-0 (W 55-23 Kansas, W 37-34 #13 Mississippi, 11/14 #18 Houston, 11/21 #21 Temple)
Temple 7-0 (W 27-10 Penn State, 10/31 #9 Notre Dame, 11/21 #16 Memphis)
Houston 7-0 (W 34-31 Louisville, 11/14 #16 Memphis)
Navy 5-1 (L 41-24 #15 Notre Dame, 11/7 #16 Memphis, 11/27 #18 Houston)

Mid American
Toledo 7-0 (W 16-12 #18 Arkansas, W 30-23 Iowa State)
Bowling Green 6-2 (W 48-27 Maryland, W 35-28 Purdue, L 59-30 #25 Tennessee, 11/17 #20 Toledo)

Conference USA
Marshall 7-1 (W 41-31 Purdue)
Western Kentucky 6-2 (W 14-12 Vanderbilt, L #5 48-20 Louisiana State)

Sun Belt
Appalachian State 6-1 (L 42-10 #12 Clemson)

Mountain West
Boise State 5-2 (W 16-13 Washington, W 56-10 Virginia)

The Top 5 contenders at this point for the autobid.

1) Memphis 7-0 (W 55-23 Kansas, W 37-34 #13 Mississippi, 11/14 #18 Houston, 11/21 #21 Temple)
2) Toledo 7-0 (W 16-12 #18 Arkansas, W 30-23 Iowa State)
3) Temple 7-0 (W 27-10 Penn State, 10/31 #9 Notre Dame, 11/21 #16 Memphis)
4) Bowling Green 6-2 (W 48-27 Maryland, W 35-28 Purdue, L 59-30 #25 Tennessee, 11/17 #20 Toledo)
5) Houston 7-0 (W 34-31 Louisville, 11/14 #16 Memphis)

-At this moment I just have the AAC and MAC in contention for the autobid. Boise State has 2 losses and is not in control of their division. Appalachian State only has one loss and they have no resume aside from playing Clemson. Marshall has the lowest SOS of all contenders and plays in the same division as Western Kentucky.

-Houston doesn't lead its division and doesn't have much of a resume BUT they have a win over Louisville which is better than anything Marshall, Navy, App St or WKU has.

-Bowling Green is #2 in schedule, has 2 P5 wins and leads its division. They do have 2 losses but as far as YTD resume they are #3 topped only by Toledo and Memphis.

-Temple leads its division, is undefeated and has the most potential with Notre Dame and Memphis yet on the schedule. There are a few questions about Temple. First will they be able to act on their potential.

Secondly they may lose to Notre Dame and Memphis only to win the AAC Championship with a 2 loss record. That would open the door for Toledo should they win the MAC to pick up the G5 autobid.

-Toledo is far from a shoe-in to win the MAC despite their high ranking. They have 4 tough games coming up in NIU, CMU, BGSU and WMU. WMU is undefeated in the MAC and NIU/CMU only have 1 loss each. Toledo is facing a challenge within their own division and then a challenge for the MAC championship with BGSU the two time defending East champion.

Air Force is there with 2 loses. They have to play Boise State. It is a three way tie at the Top in the Mountain with Boise State, Air Force and Utah State.

And more to the point, the media poll also has Memphis at #16 (660), Houston at #18 (441), Toledo at #20 (365), and Temple at #21 (307). If Temple score the upset win over ND, they'll obviously move up on pretty much everyone's card, and even one spot would guarantee that they pass Toledo ... in the event, they would be rivaling Memphis and people arguing about which one had more of a "solid" ranked win and which had more of a "fluke" ranked win.

Obviously, its long odds, but so were GT's chances of beating FSU, never mind their chances of beating FSU on the last play of a tied game on a blocked FG returned for a TD.

(not knocking Memphis and Toledo for winning, knocking the OP's premise.)
Yes, the premise is quite absurd (as absurd as some of Kittonhead aka Louis Kitton's Conference Realignment ramblings) ... WKU, for instance, was playing a substantially stronger defense than Toledo, who was playing Kent State, where we've played some better than expected defense against lesser offenses this year, but just could not cope with Toledo's weapons (and providing that "better than expected" sometimes means REALLY low expectations). Tossing aside (1) the opponent and (2) the opposing score, and just sorting teams based on points scored is quite absurd, and seems likely to be mere trollbait.
