True, though intercepting passes is a skill. Causing fumbles/not fumbling is a skill. Falling on a fumble and holding on to the fumble at the bottom of the pile is not a repeatable skill. W&M has been good defensively this year and not all that lucky.

I hope everyone understands how big a statement this is. Not to say we couldn't have a bad game, but more that this defense is performing at a high level by doing things that require defensive skill.

RE: Game 8 - JMU
This is a huge game and will be very hard fought. It will be epic. I'm looking forward to being there to cheer the Tribe on to victory, but the victory will be hard won.

JMU is a very good team, with or without Lee. Obviously they are better with Lee, but their backup is capable of running JMU.

JMU is a team that scored 49 vs. Richmond with less than 23 minutes of possession, and without Vlad Lee the whole game. That's insane.

Our defense is about to have a huge test. I hope they continue to perform as they have.

Lee went out in the 4th quarter. Schur lead them on two scoring drives after Lee went out.

The still have a couple of stud running backs. Khalid Abdullah and Cardon Johnson are both averaging just under 100 ypg.

Hopefully, it will make them a bit easier to defend when plays break down, though.

On the coaches call, Coach Withers did not say what Lee's injury is, but did say that he will not play this week.

Lee is having surgery to have a rod placed in his ankle. He is done for the season. Injuries are part of the game. They are unfortunate, I wish him well, hate to see any young man miss game time.

RE: Game 8 - JMU
Laycock says X-ray's showed no fracture on Dedmon's ribs, but no info beyond that.

That's a positive sign, hopefully he is in a place where he will be able to contribute on Saturday. Our offense has many weapons, but his speed is unique among our receivers and is just one more thing defenses have to plan for.

No fracture is great news. Bruised ribs still hurt like the devil and may severely limit his ability but he could play if needed.

Agreed, I hope this injury is not at as bad as it sounds . Hopefully he can recover and this injury does not end any chance he had of playing professionally .

Vad Lee is an important piece for JMU offense. I don't know much about their backup QB, but I am sure they lose some edge there. Just hope Dedmon's injury isn't too bad. We need his speed to stretch the field.

RE: Game 8 - JMU
JMU has started a high school option QB against the Tribe with one week of practice under center (2010 game in Harrisonburg) and kicked the Tribe's butt. W&M will always be the underdog against the Dukes in my book. JMU has been the Tribe's arch nemesis in football since 1986. The Tribe can never, ever beat the Dukes often enough.

I am really looking forward to having several Paul's subs this weekend and seeing W&M try and exorcise some of the demons the Dukes seem to have on their side on Saturday. Kind of fitting it is Halloween.

The Dukes will be pissed and motivated on Saturday, I really wished they had beaten Richmond.

Be ready to strap it on tight, it is going to be a rough, tough game.

Go Tribe!

With this game being on NBCSN, this would be a great time to exorcise another demon, that of never winning on national TV.

RE: Game 8 - JMU
Slightly terrifying that JMU could put up that many points while never having the ball. Looking at their individual drives:

9 plays, 54 yards, 2:54-TD
10 plays, 71 yards, 2:29- TD
6 plays, 29 yards, 1:50- Punt
10 plays, 76 yards, 2:13- TD
3 plays, 71 yards, 0:22- TD
10 plays, 58 yards, 3:02- TD
6 plays, 29 yards, 2:08- Punt
4 plays, 25 yards, 0:53- Punt
10 plays, 71 yards, 3:08- TD
9 plays, 89 yards, 2:29- TD
1 play, 0 yards, 7 seconds- Fumble

1) I wonder if JMU regrets not trying to slow their pace down early on once it was obvious that they couldn't stop Richmond. It might not have changed things but they could have tried to protect their defense.

2) Even without Lee they moved the ball against Richmond. W&M's probably going to try to take the air out of the football. That will work as long as W&M can finish drives.

Last year at this time we had lost 2 conference games and lost in Harrisonburg blowing a lead in the 4th quarter. We owe JMU and Richmond some serious payback for many of the recent years. The Tribe needs to play it's best but it is the defense that needs to step up this week. If we can stop the run and create some turnovers, we should prevail. For ultimate success we need to win all 4 of our revenge games from last season.

Don't mention this to the ball boys, don't think it will turn out well.
