Fired up!
Got some confused looks from the crimson and orange-clad folks at the gas pumps around me when they spotted my UAB shirt. When will they learn they aren't alone in this state?

The Blazer website says the doors will open for the scrimmage at 12:00 noon, but does anyone know exactly when the scrimmage will actually begin?

The ladies should be in the middle of their alumni open scrimmage right about now. So, I suspect the doors are open..

If I'm remembering correctly they practice for about 30 minutes before the scrimmage.

From the official website:
Doors open at 12 p.m. and UAB basketball season ticket holders are invited to attend the Blazers’ annual Green and Gold scrimmage and become acquainted with their seats and this year’s team.
But I don't care when the doors open, of if they are open now, I'm just trying to find out when the men's scrimmage starts. Anybody with that info?

If our guys can stay healthy, this team will be very special. A whole lot will depend on the ability of Cokley & Sullivan to provide muscle behind Tosin. IMO

RE: Scrimmage Thread
Some quick notes:
Norton and Cokley look like different people. They are jacked.
Lee looks to be picking up where he left off. He is very confident offensively right now.
Robert Brown is going to have a special season. The game comes so easy to him. He was draining 3's at will.
I've come to the realization that Tosin is what he is offensively. I wouldn't expect a whole lot more from him offensively. Fortunately, we don't need it. He is a blocking machine. He blocked Smallwood twice.
Madison, Watts, and Lew looked great. They are going to be killer off the bench.
Lavender looks to be a good get. He fit right in athletically.
Same ole Hak. A bruiser and an energy guy. He is going to be hard to keep out of the starting line up.
The biggest question for me is Dirk. That is, will he start? I can see him and Cokley playing starter minutes without starting. Dirk is as advertised. It'll take a while for him to adjust to the level of completion but he has the skill set.
All in all, we look bigger, faster, and experienced. Our 2nd five could beat a lot of teams on our schedule. I'd expect the same starting 5 as last year. Dirk and Coke first off the bench followed by Tyler/Lew/Watts/Smallwood.
Good luck CUSA. This team is for real.

Thanks for all the good notes. Can you be more specific about Dirk's game? Was he just a shooter? How was the defense? He must have been at least okay if you're talking about him starting.

He looked good on defense. He had a couple of steals and a really good block on Robert Brown at the rim. He maybe shot 2 or 3 times. We weren't running any plays for him offensively so he was just putting up rebounds and what not. He didn't attempt a 3. He is so long. When he pulls up to shoot he can get all the separation he wants kind of like Lee. I just see a TON of upside in his game. His defense is what stood out to me overall though. I was impressed.

I would get permission from the school before posting practices online.
I would only private message it to whoever wants it. I would not post it.

Impressive. I could see about 6 different people being leading scorers in any particular game. Good luck to any defense trying to shut down this team.
