Interesting comments from their coach amongst the author's analysis. We need to come in and take command of this game early to make sure they haven't hit rock bottom just quite yet. The coach must not think they are there yet, and neither does the writer. However, when a team has nothing to lose but their pride, that is when we need to be careful and make sure this doesn't go down like EMU did up there a few years back when Bronson Hill suddenly decided he was taking over the game. I don't see this D doing that, but we have to be vigilant04-chairshot04-rock

Quote:Final thoughts
There's very little chance UMass will win this game. Stranger things have happened, but if the Minutemen we see Saturday resemble the offensively-challenged unit that showed up at McGuirk Stadium last week or the defensively-inept bunch that let Bowling Green walk all over it two weeks ago, this team stands no chance whatsoever. UMass has to play a perfect game to push Toledo into a competitive fourth quarter and Whipple said as much this week. Whenever your coach admits that "There certainly aren't any expectations this week" that should give you a good idea of where your team stands heading into game day.

Quote:"I wouldn’t say we’re a confident group right now. We’ll line up and we’ll give it our (best) shot, that’s for sure." That's not exactly what you want to hear from your head coach the week your team is playing a top-25-ranked opponent.

Quote:Prediction: Toledo 48, UMass 20

How is Toledo's pass defense? UMass's only chance is for the QB to get lots of time to throw and get into a rhythm, usually MAC defenses have a tough time with that. He's a pretty good QB, at least in prior years. I know NIU's would. But they won't be able to run on Toledo, and the Non-rivals should put up 45 points or more.

Our D has better coverage, containment and tackling this year. Yery physical defense all around. Their QB is very good as is one WR. They have some other wideouts that can contribute as well. We will need score points and use our running game to play keep away from those guys. He can be dangerous no doubt. He threw over 400 on us last year in a shootout.

Not only would they have to play perfect, they would need for Toledo to make mistakes.
