RE: Schedule issues
Issue Coastal has is that while they can play as many FCS schools as they want, they will still count as FCS for scheduling purposes next year, and FBS teams can only play one of those a year to count for Bowl Eligibility.

2016 for App
09/03 - at Tennessee
09/10 - Old Dominion
09/17 - NC Central
09/24 - at Akron

I like this schedule very manageable

Yes I wish GaSou would follow this model.

Can't the SBC count a game vs CC as a conference game even if they are transitional? I thought the conference did this before, USA?

Possibly. I'm fairly certain the WAC did this in 2012 with UTSA.

Understand the frustration is coming from the FCS teams notably Kennesaw and Presbyterian who are cancelling their home games we had planned on going to them but they would rather go find a D2

We've already explored that with these cancellations being this late all of the Sun Belt are full up

Really stupid of the Big South people. You tend to meet people again in different circumstances that business. Could haunt your school, or your career later.

RE: Schedule issues
BYU needs a late season home game and has no FCS currently on the schedule.

Also UMass is playing at Hawaii in 2016 so they can add a 13th game if they would like to.

You could always buy a couple of Division II games as well

That unfortunately is what we will end up doing buying a few D2 and some non-scholly types

You are missing the point...not OOC games but CC replaces one conference game for as many SBC schools as needed to fill your schedule.

That's a great idea and would really be doing CCU a solid. The negotiations to figure out the changes would be interesting to watch (and probably so interesting that they could never happen).

Liberty had agreed to play Coastal next year. I'm sure we want to stay in good standing with Coastal as it could be a possible yes vote in the future. Not sure why the other big south teams would refuse to play. I know the Big South basketball tournament has already been yanked from Coastal and is being rebid.

Assuming CCU could pay NCCU the same as App and also Gillin is a horse-trader when it comes to OOC games, then I suppose CCU could take the place of NCCU in App's OOC schedule for 2016 and then NCCU plays @CCU in 2016 and also to sweeten the pot for NCCU, App offers to play NCCU in Boone in either 2018, 2019, 2020 & beyond. Seems as if everyone gets 2 games out of it with CCU getting a much needed 2 in 2016 and finally App/CCU rivalry can get an early start.

The SLC wasn't happy with us either but, they kept us on their schedules so they wouldn't have the whole conference scrambling to find other OOC games. Sounds like the Big South is a bunch of butt hurt school children.

Sure they can..

But any team that has another FCS game already on its schedule would not be able to include CCU as a game to get bowl eligible.

That's why it won't happen. Looks like NMSU and perhaps ULM are the only schools that have a spot for FCS, as everyone else already has a FCS scheduled..

While it really isn't the problem of the Sun Belt, as a USA fan, I really see no need to play Charleston Southern or Kennesaw State in any sport at any point in the future. But I'm not the AD at USA. Are the fans in San Marcos clamoring for a matchup with the Blue Hose or Gardiner Webb? I didn't think so.

Doesn't work that way. CCU will still be FCS next year, so if one of our teams played them, it would count as an FCS game.

Looks like Coastal will have a crazy schedule next year. Even the SoCon did not pull the nonsense the Big South is doing to Coastal

RE: Schedule issues
This happened with ODU in 2013 when the CAA dropped them after their non-football sports went to CUSA but football had to do their FCS Independent year. They ended up playing a hodge-podge schedule with 7 FCS and 5 FBS teams.
