What if : Mizzou game
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't our Tigers suppose to play Mizzou this year but they postponed it due to not wanting to play two non conference road games? Had we played and beat them, which I think would have been the case, and although Mizzou is not as good as some thought they would be, I believe that victory would have carried more weight than any of the other non conference wins excluding the black bears. ( I say this knowing full well that Bowling Green is probably better, but not a P5 school.) If the Tigers end up undefeated, we're in a New Years 6 bowl regardless, but with a win over Mizzou, I think the remote possibility of making the playoffs would have been greater.

I tend to agree, although as bad as they started the season (see results against UConn, I think it was 9-6), we may have just sent them into a death spiral, thereby rendering their weight to our SOS worthless.

We and Akansas St were on their schedule. Due to joining the SEC, they needed to remove one of us from their schedule. Minutes after we killed Arkansas St a couple of years back, Missouri removed us from the schedule. I believe the game is scheduled in a few years.

RE: What if : Mizzou game
If we had played them instead of Kansas, it would make a HUGE difference in our strength of schedule rating. As of now, 1/3rd of our opponents are a combined 0-13, thanks to Missouri State being one of the worst teams in D1-A, and Kansas being the worst in D1.
What sucks is that the rating gives a false indication as to the true strength of our schedule. Other than those 2 games, our schedule is very difficult. It will really suck if the difference between us making the playoffs after an undefeated season or not, comes down to our SOS being anchored down by those two terrible teams. On the bright side, thankfully we didnt add UCF to the schedule

No doubt, but toledo is still getting respect for their win over what is now a 2- 5 piggie team. I think had we beaten Mo. instead of Ks. we would have jumped into the top 25 early on and probably be near the top 10 with the win over the black bears.

Cancel the series. We do not need them and they are not willing to play us when we knew we could beat them. So why play it in the future when we may or may not be in the position for the win. Besides we need to start playing Big 12 OOC until we get invite.

Our SOS jumped 36 spots (111 to 76) after the Ole Miss game. It will likely rise slightly after Tulsa, may drop slightly after Tulane, and then jump up for Navy, Houston, and Temple. We may drop slightly after SMU. SMU and Kansas have bad win-loss records, but their opponents have really good records, which helps stabilize things a bit. So Mo win-loss record sucks, and so does their opponents. They can do us a favor by putting some wins up.

Toledo needs to lose. They are getting credit where little is due by beating Arkansas early in the season. Now they are kicking the crap out of the rest of the jabronis in their conference.

Bowling Green is on their schedule, so it could be a double win for us.
