Can we join Big12 and eliminate that problem?

Memphis win over Mississippi, and potential road wins over Houston and Temple are big.
Temple would have wins over Memphis, Penn State and Notre Dame.

With those, both are viable options from a selection committee. Which would be to the howling of a one loss Michigan State or the like.

The same way we would scream if an undefeated Toledo got the access slot over a 1 loss Memphis

I would not howl over that.

He said he would like to hear that argued, but doesn't think that Memphis could get in even in those circumstances.

At least he admits it.

Technically he would probably be right. Let's say:

12-1 LSU (Current SOS 23)
12-1 Clemson (Current SOS 27 )
12-1 Mich St (Current SOS 41 )
12-1 Utah (Current SOS 3)

Im' a complete homer, but I dont believe we can get past those teams due to their SOS's. Our SOS is around 78, but will get much better. Their SOS's are significantly better, and likely wont get much worse.

The B12 is the one conference that would have issues with a single loss; TCU for one but Baylor especially.

Possible but very unlikely. We would pretty much need Ole Miss to win the SEC.

we need to beat out 2 P5 champs, it does not matter what the other 3 records are.

if Ole Miss is the sec champ and one other P5 champ has a questionable record the undefeated AAC would have a shot at being named

We need Temple to beat Notre Dame and not lose to ECU and we need to win out. It is possible. Not likely, but possible.

I just hope we can figure out a way to tackle Greg Ward Jr. right now...

And that summarizes it perfectly.

We are looking for scenarios where one of the P5's divisions has got itself locked into a high probably of putting a 2 loss team in the CCG, but is strong enough to win the CCG. The PAC has that right now. In the north, Stanford and Cal both have a single loss. But they have yet to play each other, and Stanford still plays ND. Utah is good, but they only beat Cal by 6 at home.

Florida in the SEC east still has to play Florida St. If they lose that game and no other, they will win the east, but have two losses. And Ole Miss with 2 losses can lock everyone in the west out by winning out. An undefeated Memphis or Temple against a 2 loss Florida is a good thing. An undefeated Memphis over a 2 loss Ole Miss should be automatic.

The 3 leaders on the coastal side of the ACC already have a loss, and all three have yet to play each other. A 2-loss Pitt to the playoffs? Not over and undefeated AAC team.

And the best B12 teams must all play each other.

So the possibilities exist, and can be likely. Then again, we still must go undefeated, so there's that. But at least its a plossibility we can still discuss.
