What does NIU have in common with the Academic Institutional Alignment of the Big 12 schools? Comparing Texas to NIU? We are in the MAC for a long time.

He is right, if we want to position ourselves for the future it will take a commitment to achieving that goal. We cannot just rest on our winning ways. We need community commitment, alumni commitment, etc.

Don't think it's an ask for the mass audience, yet. It's marketing for anyone in the community or leadership at NIU that's potentially asking "why should we focus on football/athletics?" And SF is saying "because it improves the entire university". And then he's saying #$&* you MAC and then he drops the mic.

RE: Frazier's Corner
To be honest, what else is going to attract people to NIU, attendance is dropping and we have nothing more to offer. Year after year , there are little improvements to attract young people that seem to be effective. Changing conferences may be the incentive needed improve academics, enrollment and the Dekalb community.

They put a lot of research into this.

I see this as a huge sales pitch to potential sponsors, potential large donors and partially to IL State legislators.

Boise, TCU win bowl games.
We would be well on our way if we somehow could have beaten FSU.
We have to win the bowl games against good competition and we have not done that.

That was great and very to the point. I like the closing remarks. Wow.

"We are extremely satisfied with our affiliation with the Mid-American Conference… but make no mistake NIU cannot ignore the trends currently taking place in college athletics… In summary the roadmap is clear… Time to take NIU to the next level."

RE: Frazier's Corner
Sean Frazier is a unbelievably smart man, and we should be blessed to have him as our AD and VP. This was an excellent presentation, and you can tell he has a passion and fire for NIU to get to the next step, more so than any other leader I've seen at NIU. Clearly he is showing the population why athletics upgrades matter, and not just for the football team, but for the university and the community. New Huskie Stadium will not just be for the football team, but also for the community, students, and events. Also, the other upgrades and new facilities will showcase growth and a sense of big time college athletics that no other MAC school has. Obviously with the goal of changing conferences when the time is right. I've of course opened my check book to NIU, and I hope others do the same. You can't do the same thing over and over and expect different results. I'm glad he's in charge and he is showing us the road map that we must follow in order to stay relevant in the changing NCAA athletics environment. Well done sir.

I haven't known any of the ADs personally, but publicly he shows much more fire and passion than previous ADs. He has a lot of inertia to overcome so it remains to be seen if he's able to get things done. If he doesn't it won't be for lack of trying.

+1

And as DPN points out, we are blessed to have him.
