I will be there and I’m sure a few other sentimental fans will go, but there won’t be any excitement in the arena.

Louis Rowe has invited all the former players to come to the last game at the Convo and it will be nice to see some of them there to be recognized for the glory days. What may speak louder is how many do not show. When the program has been run into the ground it is easy for former players to decline the invite. I’m sure it is embarrassing for them to be associated with the dumpster fire.

I haven't been to a game for a few years, but I think I will go to the final game at the Convo. I was there for the first one; should be there for the last one. There were a lot of great games there through the years. It is a part of our history. I will also be there for the first game in the new facility. Milestones.

Just curious, as a former player did you get an invite?

Either way, enjoy the trip.

RE: New Bourne Dialogue
It would be fitting if the Lefthander was there for the final MBB game at the Convo. Maybe pull the last number off the games remaining placard.

I just envision Lefty to Lou Rowe in his slow southern drawl...

"Lou, yo team don't play no defense, Son. I almost 90 yee-uhs old and I play better D than deez boys."

04-cheers

RE: New Bourne Dialogue
It's really sad that this is how the MBB program will be leaving the Convo. There's a lot of history in that building, but unfortunately most will remember these last few decades of disappointment.
One reason I wanted a new coach this year was to have a year to build success into the new arena. Obviously it didn't happen and we're left with one of the worst seasons in MBB history.

As football season extended into January, we sit in the thick of conference play in basketball, which also means winding down our final season in the Convocation Center. Only a handful of home contests remain, so be sure to check schedules on JMUSports.com and cheer for our Dukes. I look forward to celebrating with both programs in their final home games on Feb. 22 for the men and March 1 for the women. The CAA Men's Basketball Championship will occur in Washington, D.C. for the first time ever at the brand-new Entertainment & Sports Arena. This is a great opportunity for our fans in the metro area to support our student-athletes! Women's basketball is back in familiar territory near the top of the league standings and will aim for a NCAA berth in the women's tournament at Elon.

Closing the Convo also means looking forward to the 2020-21 season in the new Atlantic Union Bank Center. As a reminder, season tickets are on sale now for this new facility. Significant work continues behind-the-scenes by the construction team, JMU facilities management and many areas of Athletics staff to have everything ready for November.

My dad used to say "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." What can Bourne actually say about the current state of men's basketball that would be nice?

To me, this is the first thing to come out that gives me hope that perhaps they are serious about firing Rowe. If they were fully supportive, I've gotta think this message would have had some message of solidarity or "keep the faith".
Instead there were absolute crickets. Not a good sign at all if you are Rowe.
I think a late season run or big time CAA run is the only thing that could keep his job, but I just don't see that happening in a million years. I think 1 win in the playoffs is this team's ceiling.

Not a good sign for Rowe, but I also don't think it would be a shock for him if a change is made. He has made multiple references to him knowing the responsibility for this season falling on him and that the team has performed well below everyone's expectations. I just wish it would have happened to a worse person.

I agree. When you see interviews with him, I think he absolutely believes that time is running out and if he doesn't turn things around he'll be fired. I don't think he'll be even a little shocked if he gets fired.
That's the shame of it all. He is a really good guy. Who didn't want to see him succeed? Who wouldn't want the opportunity to coach for their alma mater and be responsible for making the team great? I truly believe he would have been a JMU coach for life if he had brought us success.
The only problem is I don't think he was ready. Perhaps if he had coached at a lower division school first, he could have learned about being a head coach and someday been ready to be a head coach for JMU.
Unfortunately after this I don't see him getting a head coach job again any time soon... if ever.

And why does he believe that because I think they have been very fair and upfront with him all along. He’s a big boy and realizes the expectations this year into next. He’s know all along what the team needed to do to have him continue to coach and get an extension.

I don't see why NOT......maybe it fires the team up a tad, maybe it doesn't......don't see the harm.

Should get it lined up for the last 3 home games in a row. Anything to generate a little excitement.

Just doesn't have the same effect when there's only three streamers launched.

We should do this at every game. First 3 pointer hit, toss the streamers.

I agree, F'it........have some fun for the fans/students that show up. Also it needs to be supported by JMU admin or the RMC staff will be looking to escort folks out.

If we were good and the HC asked it not to be done that is one thing.....but that is not the case at the present time, so lets have fun for the few that show up.

I was going to comment, but I deleted it. It's funnier to read (i mean sad)

After last weekend I was ready to move on, but I won't be outside anyone's office with my pitchfork. I'm back on board with finishing the regular season; give HCLR the closing game at the Convo on 2/22. Nine games remain between today and the end of the regular season. But if we don't string together a couple of wins I would be in favor of getting a head start on a search before the conference tourney.

toilet paper from the upper deck with a good wrist snap. if you're gonna do it...do it right

i was actually pushing for a bunch of my buds here in the beach area to get a party bus and make an event of it to hit the convo one last time. and toilet paper was mentioned. with the season they are having, i am the only one with even mild interest in traveling up just to see a game. and this will probably be the first year in a while I haven't traveled to Harrisonburg to see one at home.

"That's A Cottonelle Three-Pointer!!!!!" (I'm still more partial to the opening basket over a three-pointer for the record. Old school purist I guess)

Yes, I received an invite via email. It is a very nice opportunity for us. Lou is a friend and a great person. I hate that he hasn't been able to take the program where it needs to be. He works hard and is a good recruiter. He will always be a great Duke. It will be a good opportunity to spend time with some teammates and other Bskb alums. Maybe see a round of golf in there!

JMU Men’s Basketball Alumni,
The Convocation Center has been our home for 38 years, and now it is time to celebrate one final weekend to close down a facility where so many memories were created.

- Men’s Basketball vs. Elon – 7 p.m., Convocation Center
Friday, February 21st
- Open team practice – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Convocation Center
- Men’s Basketball Happy Hour Social – 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Quill’s Lobby Bar at Hotel Madison
Saturday, February 22nd
- Open shoot around – 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m., Convocation Center
- Men’s Basketball vs. William & Mary – 4 p.m., Convocation Center

To claim your complimentary game tickets, order additional tickets and RSVP for the weekend’s events, please CLICK HERE. We know we do not have everyone’s most up-to-date email address, so be sure to share this invite and links with your fellow teammates!
We look forward to seeing you soon…Go Dukes!!!
