RE: Rockets vs EMU Game Thread

Even if it was against our 4th qtr backups we only gave up 20 total. We have been the most effective D against ALMOST EVERY offense we have faced.
Both EMU touchdowns happened as a result of UT special teams breakdowns:
1) In the first instance, after the UT defense forced EMU into a punting situation, the UT special teams did not anticipate that fake punt which got the first down on a fourth and nine play and subsequently led to EMU TD #1.
2) In the second instance, a muffed fair catch resulted in EMU having excellent field position, but even then EMU needed extra help from a roughing the passer penalty on a fourth down play where the UT defense had defended and would have given the UT offense the ball back on its own 7 yard line.
The final score of 63-20 reflects many of the well executed UT plays and Toledo's overall dominance but it also obscures a significant number of poorly executed plays the Rockets made. The 2000 UT team was great because they executed all aspects of the game to near perfection. The 2015 team is great because of the depth of talent and utilization of that talent is sufficient to completely overshadow their short comings---the untimely penalties, dropped passes, bad snaps etc. ------if the 2015 team ever plays a near perfect game the results should be astounding regardless of the opponent.

Very poor tackling effort on that one, giving up the TD. I believe it was Teachey. He must have assumed there was someone else behind him.

That hurts, but hopefully we have the talent to cover for it. If they had to they could probably pull Voss back there.

RE: Rockets vs EMU Game Thread
Ho-hum. Another game, another Rocket named MAC West Player of the Week, this time for special teams.
Just kidding about the ho-hum part. Congratulations to Ja'Wuan Woodley: he blocked the field goal picked up by Chase Murdock and returned for a TD. As of now this doesn't seem to be mentioned on the UT site, but it will probably be there soon. Here's a link to the story on the MAC site.
