Yep, he inherited an economy on a downward trend (GDP growth was dropping in the third and fourth quarters of 2000) and the start (in March 2000) of a collapsing stock market. Then there was that inconvenient event on 9/11.

What is pathetic is your inability to see reality. Clinton left Bush an economic mess.

Well, there was a war as well. Actually 2.

And at that time the Democrats tacked on lots of extra spending items for various things before allowing any money to fund the Iraq war and Bush went along with it too. even up through 2007 votes were held up until the extra funding of other programs were included in the spending bills. Google it if You must.

What cost more? The Iraq war or Obama's deficit in his first year?

Wars are expensive.

Having congress tack on unecessary spending to war spending is even more expensive.

Allowing the democrats control of the white house and congress, well, it dont get any expensive than that.

RE: Democrat Debate Thread
How war is supposed to happen:

-All avenues are considered, and if war is the only option, then Congress brings the potential declaration to the floor.
-Congress votes to or not to declare war.
-Executive gets on board, or doesn't.
-If war needs to occur, then TAXES NEED TO BE RAISED to pay for it because the country is at war. This is one of the aspects that should be weighed by Congress when deciding whether or not to declare war. It must be paid for and the general populace must be "behind" the effort if it is to be successful.
-Declare war, pay for it.
-Fight war to win the war, subdue the enemy until an unconditional surrender occurs.
-Install an economic, political, and social rebuilding plan like the Marshall Plan.
-Earth flourishes.

How war happens now:

-President decides to go to war whenever and wherever he wants.
-No plan to pay for it is in place, taxation is not affected at all by said war(s).
-Huge deficits occur, which in turn skyrockets the national debt.
-Remain in a state of perpetual war because there was no plan, no end game, and no strategy developed before invading several countries.
-The Orwellian model of "War is Peace" is shoved down the throats of the American citizen.
-Debt continues to skyrocket. No end to war in sight.
-Earth is a dumpster fire

Seriously though, **** them. They're wasting everyone's time up there on that stage and Chafee raised a stunningly pathetic $30k (Sanders and Clinton raised $26m and $29m by comparison).
