Yes I know they've been at a lot of SEC games that aired on CBS as well as some Notre Dame games that were on NBC.

Cool- someone should tweet at collegegameday and Lee fitting that Haley will be in the house for homecoming!

I know pat and emmitt smith have made appearances at BFS too- maybe get them to come :)

College Gameday at JMU?
First time poster.

I completely agree with homecoming being the date for ESPN bringing game day to BFS.

I attended JMU from 09 to 14 and saw the fall of student attendance/interest in our football/athletics appreciation.

With the recent attention from the SMU win and our team being on fire NOW is the time to right the ship.

I know MM through friends and was often asked why the student attendance was so lacking and I think the fact of the matter fell to lack of attention/care to how great the team was.

Now that the JMU students have seen the creation of a great team thanks to EW. We need to expand on this to show we are ready for FBS football.

I believe in what is spoken here and if the board wants to raise the giving to the school then this is what must happen.

Without national recognition and a football program being propelled to the level that is deserved they will never see the giving that they hope for.

We need to bring back the days of 08 and 04. I remember the cold of Chattanooga and BFS in December and those days of student and alumni are what is needed to make the BOV realize this program deserves to be FBS.

With game day at BFS I think those days of support can be brought about again!!

Coastal Carolina is in...EKU prob next..ya know why? They said WE WANT FBS...we can't even say that, and we're getting lapped by schools half our size.

We dreamed about GameDay coming to JMU in both 2008 and 2010...it's not gonna happen guys. Even on a slow week, this would never happen unless we roll off a silly win/title streak or were playing in a historic rivalry or were an HBC. I like the dream big mantra, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

NDSU has gotten on twice in the last two years. They went to Harvard last year. Even D-III Williams College got Gameday to come to town a few years back. If they're looking for a great atmosphere in a slow FBS week, JMU Homecoming vs. UR will undoubtedly provide that. The producer of College GameDay is a JMU alum an literally tweeted he wants to bring the show to JMU at some point.

Likely? Probably not. But I don't think you need to drink too much purple Kool-Aid to see this is a golden opportunity to push the envelope and get on their radar.

Yes! There's always a chance- don't know of any other better opportunity than the Richmond game. And it will be awesome to get BFS some exposure- most people in the country haven't seen how nice it looks and hopefully we can get them tours of the lockerroom and air the Vad Lee piece again.

Well said Pitz. I will say though that usually when they do an "outside the P5 visit," it's early season or during the late silly season around Thanksgiving. Still, I'm not giving up hope.

NDSU 4 time (2 and 3 when gameday went) national champions with phenomenal support in a state with no FBS teams.

Harvard is known everywhere, and it was The Game vs Yale.

JMU vs UR doesn't have that going for it. I wish it did, but A&M vs Ole Miss carries far more national interest, and since TV is driven by the advertising dollar, you know where they're going in 2 weeks.

Hate to be voice of reality, b/c it would be sweet.

If A&M beats Alabama Saturday, this is all moot, and Ole Miss is no-brainer for 10/24. But that game loses a lot of luster if A&M loses (which I think will happen).

it's completely germane to the FBS comments in the previous post...that said, if you don't like it - and choose to ignore the truth - then just read on! :)

RE: College Gameday at JMU?
I know ESPN/espn3 has the playoff games, any chance Gameday could come for one of those weeks or would there be too many prime FBS games in December? I think there is a week or two from the end of championship week until the bowls really get started. I believe that would be our best chance, especially hosting for a semifinal game or something like that

That sounds like the deal right there. Second round games December 5th conflict with CCG's, but the 12th (QF's) is free except for Army/Navy and the 19th (SF's) should be clear but for our future bowl games.

problem is, and correct me if I'm wrong, that college gameday doesn't have shows those weeks as there aren't many games.

I don't think they usually do, but it would be a great time to start. This would also will increase viewers/ratings etc for the FCS games on their networks.

You called out examples that ADAD directly addressed. JMU isn't coming off multiple NC and this isn't a 50 year old rivalry. I'm dreaming big and the slow FBS week coupled with the chance to interview a recent HOF addition should add to Gamedays appeal, but it is unlikely to happen.

I guerilla campaign by fans pointing out the benefits could help though, so please lets continuing hitting them, despite the likely outcome.

from what I understand, NDSU has had Gameday for two reasons. 1.) they have a high ranking alum who works for ESPN. I guess we have that too, at least for Gameday? 2.) they bend over backwards to allow ESPN access to anything and everything. access to film rooms, interviews, catering, they're treated like royalty.

is it possible that they want a centralized tailgating location? is that how the Fargodome is set up? because we're spread out all over the place, and they'd prefer everyone cram in at once and show their excitement?

also, believe this is a long shot as far as this year goes. think the NDSU visits were announced like 6 months in advance or something.
