It's not like we are a rival - FIU, Miami, etc.
Maybe it has something to do with recruiting.

We're 1-1 in conference, it goes without saying that being 2-1 is much better than being 1-2. Moreover, did you watch the FAU Marshall games the past two years? We really REALLY want to bet y'all

Hopefully, we won't have the Cranio-Rectal Inversion that we had the last time that we played you in Boca... Someone run up to Delray and send me a lobster salad croissant and some fish spread from Boston's.

I saw both of our teams play this past weekend. FIU looked better to me personally, and MT has crashed and burned for the past three weeks. I think we're on a downward trend while FIU is going up - on Saturday we'll see for sure. I think it'll be close, but I'm not afraid to say FIU is riding the momentum right now of a majorly improved team.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 7
Western Kentucky @ North Texas — It's always hard to get a read on a team that has a new coach, particularly one who gets a battlefield promotion. So many intangibles to take into consideration, emotions playing for the new coach, new plays or philosophies, the other team looking past them. Or more likely ... Western Kentucky 59-7
Marshall @ FAU; 12:00 pm — Trap game; Florida Atlantic shows signs of competitiveness and they're hosting. Herd still win, but an upset isn't out of the range of possibilities. Marshall 30-20
FIU @ Middle Tennessee; 12:00 pm — A possible bowl elimination game. Advantage: home team. Middle Tennessee 24-14
LaTech @ Mississippi State; 12:00 pm — Another tantalizingly close game against a P5 team, until the non-CUSA Bulldogs pull away in fourth quarter. Mississippi State 38-17
Charlotte @ ODU; 3:30 pm — ODU scores on a 99-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter. Charlotte blocks the extra point and returns it nearly all the way, but an ODU defender knocks the ball out of his hands at the 10 and recovers it. He tries to return it, but in doing so he backs into the end zone, where he's tackled for the extraordinarily rare, possibly unprecedented, 1-point defensive safety. And nothing else happens the rest of the way. Old Dominion 6-1
UTSA @ Southern Miss; 7:00 pm, ET — Liking the Eagles here. Southern Miss 28-10

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 7
Week 7 , already wow.
.
WKU @ North Texas - Despite the coaching change the Toppers still roll, 56 - 21
Marshall @ FAU - Herd win on the road in Boca Raton, 31-21
FIU @ MTSU - Blue Raiders get back on track at home over the visting Golden Panthers. 35 - 24
LaTech @ Miss State - since the visting Bulldogs are ailing I have to lean to the homestanding ones. 38 - 28.
Charlotte @ ODU - Monarchs edge the visiting 49ers just barely. 28 - 27
UTSA @ USM - The Golden Eagles are just too much to overcome in Hattiesburg. 41 - 27

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 7
WKU -- Tops in blow out fashion
Marshall -- Herd defense too much for FAU
MTSU -- Raiders because they are at home
Miss St -- If La Tech was healthy I would give them chance for upset
ODU -- Charlotte still has a long way to go. Monarchs by 20+
USM -- expect this to be a tight game. Golden Eagles hang on.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 7
Thursday, October 15
Western Kentucky @ North Texas; WKU big
Saturday, October 17
Marshall @ FAU; Marshall wins on the road in a close game
FIU @ Middle Tennessee; hardest one to pick this week. FIU is trending up, while Middle seems to be on a downward slide. However, I think Middle Tennessee wins a close game
LaTech @ Mississippi State; Mississippi State wins, unfortunately
Charlotte @ ODU; ODU wins
UTSA @ Southern Miss; Southern Miss comes out swinging and gets the win.

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 7
Thursday, October 15
WKU @ UNT 66-6. No contest.
Saturday, October 17
Marshall @ FAU 17-14 - This will get close. FAU will dominate for three quarters, then - self-destruct in the last 10 minutes.
FIU @ MTSU 14-24 - MTSU will be mad.
LaTech @ Mississippi State 16-45 Size advantage, plus the homecooking will allow MissState to run out comfortable winners.
Charlotte @ ODU 10-27. The battle of two below average teams will cause the less sorry team to win.
UTSA @ USM 17-24. This will actually be a good game. Both teams are improving but USM has about a year on UTSA.

Why Louisiana Tech Will Win
The Bulldogs possess balance on offense and a quarterback, Jeff Driskel, with plenty of experience facing SEC defenses. Tech is averaging almost 40 points per game behind Driskel and RB Kenneth Dixon, who’s hoping to return from an ankle injury. If Dixon remains hobbled, veteran Jarred Craft has shown he can be a workhorse.
Why Mississippi State Will Win
The visiting Bulldogs have been shaky on D. The host Bulldogs have not. This is the toughest defense La Tech will face all year, a unit that gave up just three touchdown passes in the first half of the year. Driskel, whose SEC track record was forgettable, will struggle with linemen Chris Jones, Ryan Brown and A.J. Jefferson, and must avoid CB Will Redmond’s side of the field.

I think, every game will be like a SuperBowl to Charlie. He may feel some pressure to show that all the very impressive athletes he's got playing for him can now be winners. Or he will forever remain a good recruiter and nothing more.
