The Rice/FAU Twins Rivalry Game Is A Signature CUSA Match
Not only do these two schools have the same mascot, they are running neck and neck in football and baseball.
That was high drama yesterday.
In CUSA 2.0, Rice doesn't win those kinds of games.
I've said it before but Rice has really stepped up after realignment. I think their athletics program has benefited by the new conference membership more than anyone, in any conference (besides TCU). Being in the SWC cellar never helped them, and being in a conference with Houston and Tulane/SMU/Tulsa was stifling. They really needed to get away from that to build their own identity.
The Rice-FAU rivalry is exactly what Rice and the conference need. I think this game should be pushed back to Rivalry week until UNT can get their program on its feet again. Again... With UNT, Rice has a metroplex partner that compliments them.
It is cool though to see that Texas versus Florida heat brewing into an intriguing competition between the two schools. We all know the baseball is going to be sick between them, but I see (especially with FAU's locale/facilities) these two programs being quintessential CUSA brands as the conference builds up UNT, UAB, Charlotte, ODU, UTSA, etc.

A Rivalry trophy like this with CUSA on the base would be sweet.

No one in CUSA is running neck and neck with Rice in baseball. Someone post that picture with Coach Graham's rings.

Gladly, although it does not help that we're on an Omaha drought in a while...
