I thought I was the only one saying they had the most talented team in the SBC, and I'm not a State fan.

ULL does have a pretty talented roster of players, much better than the GaSo, and AppSt, but not as good a A-State.

AppSt, and GaSo are still middle of the pack in overall roster talent department in the SBC.

I wish we could get results like that with less talent.
What is it eighteen straight SBC wins for these two.
Both are good teams, and I defer to the credible sources that do the rankings, and the posters here who say they are the top two teams in the SBC.

I have only seen parts of the game where heavily favored A-State was upset by AppSt. They had a lot more talent than them, and the TxSt ( who they were also favored over)they lost to a few days later.

Their coaches claimed both embarrassing loses were only because they had run out of defensive linemen, and their fans accepted their excuses.. Whatever.

I watched them some on replay this year, and IMO when their backup qb took over in the Mizzou game (which they winning and were obviously the better team, but did not have the best roster of talent) they had the worse qb in all of FBS football, so much of their talented roster went for naught. They still went 2-1 with him. That qb is ranked last in these qb rankings by espn:

http://espn.go.com/ncf/qbr/_/page/3

Of course i will again point out that they have a roster full of players recruited by several coaching staffs for slightly different 'systems', which is IMO the biggest reason they have lost a few SBC games over the last few years. Most followers of the sport say it is absolutely amazing they have won as much as they have.

And the state of Arkansas produces some of the best talent in the nation. Let's go ahead and clear that up as well. Our starting WR is from AR and we will be back to back sbc champs so there is the proof.

Obviously the answer is winning involves more than talent.

Again there are several SBC teams with more roster talent that AppSt, and GaSo, and that should be evident from looking at the last 4 year composite recruiting rankings.

Again, the people that selected the preseason all-SBC have no problem with the fact A-State has more talent than the other SBC teams.

Again, according to A-State coaches, the local media and their fans the only reason they were not in the championship hunt last year was they had a devastating number of injuries that really impacted their DL, and as a result they suffered embarrassing loses to AppSt, and TxSt. Thats it, nothing else.

They did not played GaSo, and most feel ULL was simply the better team, and was favored to win that game.

They have not lost to a SBC team this year.

They should be 3-2 at the very least, and attribute the loss to Mizzou, and the poor performances against Toledo, and USC, to extremely poor performances by their qb's (mostly by their backup qb who is ranked last in espns qb rankings).

IMO if they get even decent play from their qb they have a very good chance of going undefeated in SBC play. They certainly have the talent to do so.

I will agree with Seminole that Ark St has the most talented and speediest 5'6-5'8" skill players in the country. They are tiny and fast which makes the talent level appear off the charts.

They lied about their freshman rb, he is only 5-5.

RE: Arkansas State at South Alabama
One last look back, as a way of looking forward.

The final score in the game against what most here, and elsewhere feel was the #3 or #4 best team in the SBC, was about what I expected just based on the talent difference in the teams, but how it came about was not.

The only reason they had to resort to last quarter heroics, IMO again appears to be sub-par play from their qb.

IMO if they can ever get anything close to decent productivity from their returning All-SBC qb, they will very difficult to beat, especially at home.

While I expect them to be favored over ULL, which has the 2nd most talented roster in the SBC, they are probably the biggest threat to beat them at their place.

Road games are always iffy, but they certainly have the talent to win all their remaining road games.

After the USA game I still think the 8 win +/- 1 season record prediction, is a reasonable prediction.

I think we are better than USA. Not sure exactly that we are better than the rest of the league. That's kind of hard to claim when we've never played Southern, and we lost to both App and ULL last year.

You could see Tuesday night that we are a more talented team than USA, but the Jaguars played with a lot more cohesion, they played as a team. We played as a group of individuals. In the end, we took advantage of a USA meltdown and got the win.

USA played better as a team than A-State did for most of the game. They lost. I'm not sure if thats a satisfying answer or not.

Should be satisfiying, stAte got the "W" in a conference game, even though it is in the SBC. I say that because some fans think they're too good be here.

I think you are confusing us with Cajun fans. We're the fan base that doesn't overly complain about the league we are in, though we do hate Karl Benson.

I wasn't referring to you all specifically. Too many fans believe that, including some USA fans. I've had aspirations in the past of the Jags moving to another conference, but have since been humbled.

Did the "better team" beat Oklahoma last week? I think not.

Yes we do. We'd probably suck at that too... but it'd be our most fun team to watch.

You won't find many AState fans clamoring to get out but mainly because there is only one G5 league we WANT in and we don't have the resume for AAC so far.
