$120 MILLION??? For a school that only 10 months ago made the strange decision to shut the football program down because the community "couldn't afford" it, this is a hell of a commitment by the community. Congratulations UAB............

what happened -- or nearly happened -- to uab is off ******* limits for every day forum dick moves.

Wow, you are certainly showing your ass. But then I don't suppose that should come as a surprise.

I don't see how this is anything but great news for UAB and can't believe they would be offended for being included in some realignment humor now after what they have been through recently.

here's what you obviously don't get: realignment wasn't funny. not on any level. it was especially unfunny in this forum.

Not paid by UAB. It's the city and UAB would not own the facility

Where on that property would they place it? I would assume what is now the parking area on the opposite side of the hotels from the arena???

I've heard north of current structures, east of the graveyard. I'm not sure how much land the BJCC owns in the area since they purchased some previously in anticipation of a dome.

This is great news for UAB and the state of Alabama. Hopefully they can finally have a success football program that the whole city will support

There is a lot of empy land northeast of the convention center. Convert that established parking to decks and you get even more room.

45k seats is still too large for UAB(and the majority of the conference) what are other plans? New home for Birmingham bowl? Concerts? USMNT friendlies?

While the 24k-30k OCS would have been a grand slam, this is still a big win for UAB if it comes to pass.

Occasional soccer friendlies, UAB, Birmingham Bowl, HBCU games, potentially high school playoffs. Still too big for UAB but 27,000 to 32,000 seats smaller than Legion Field.

If you are building a stadium, Please don't build an Erector set like UCF.

Even with the upper level completely closed still probably too large for a potential NASL home for the Hammers.

I would think the Hammers will likely play some in UAB's new BBVA Compass soccer field.
