It's OFFICIAL!!!
I believe Memphis footbal and Coach Fuente are now BIG-TIME!!! On the way to work in the Nashville area this morning, in almost 6 years I have lived here, I have never heard the morning crew for the 104.5 the Zone ever talk about Memphis football!!! These guys were arguing about where Coach Fuente will be coaching next year, they were talking about Al Golden being out and Miami hiring Fuente, and they discussed what he has done at Memphis and that it was a foregone fact he will be coaching at BIG TIME, aka Power 5", NEXT YEAR!!! Amazing!!! Sorry for "Run On" Sentences

Not sure how Fuente would handle with that type of job, but I thought about that last night as I watched. The Miami program is an entirely different animal. I'm confident Fuente will succeed pretty much anywhere, though.
Everyone East of Jackson in Tennessee can't wait to see Fuente somewhere other than Memphis.

In the past I probably would've just assumed that is how things go, but with the emphasis on football and conference alignment I'm really hoping the big guns are pulled out to keep him here. I think the administration knows this, too, and will respond appropriately.

Great stuff...but that may be the longest run-on sentence in the history of this board. I'm feeling anxious now.

I have no doubt that UofM will make every reasonable effort to keep Fuente here. However, if necessary, I am confident that Bowen will hire another excellent coach, just as he did at San Jose State. Our haters shouldn't get their hopes up too much - the sleeping giant of Tiger football is awake for good.

our last four coaching searches:
our sitting DC turns down job, hire RIP
everybody turns down job, hired Sitting DC
hired Larry Porter
national search, chose between the O.C. at Alabama an OC at TCU ...one is coaching UFla now, one is hottest names in coaching....
I dont think Fuente is dying to leave, but if he does leave, I feel our position is very attractive and our decision making process is sound

It's always nice to have a well connected third party working for you that has contacts with great coaches not OPENLY looking for a job. Works for me.

If he REALLY wants to accomplish something, i.e., build a dynasty not just orchestrate a turn-around, and he wants to do it here, that's the only way I think he'll stay. Hopefully the offers this year won't be from places he would want to go, but IF we end up with a high # of wins this year and next year, there'll be an offer he can't refuse, no matter the monetary counteroffer.

RE: It's OFFICIAL!!!
It would be a sad day for Memphis to lose Fuente. I pray Fuente will stay in Memphis for several years. That is a slim chance, but miracles have happened. Fuente is too young to handle Miami and all that pressure. But, in a few more years, I think Fuente would be ready for the Power 5 arena. I hope, by that time, Memphis might be in a Power 5.

Keep the faith, ye of the doubting crowd.
Watch the game tonight and enjoy it.
Get ready for the Ole Miss war... which will probably go our way.
OM had a heck of a time with Vandy and that should scream good vibes for U of M Tigers.
Like I said, "Keep the faith".
