I work in Rockford and recently noticed the large video billboard at the corner of Perryville and Newburg is advertising NIU. But the message only says "Welcome back Huskies". I'm not sure what that means to Rockford residents but I wish it showed the home football schedule and encouraged people to attend. Seems like a waste of advertising dollars to me.

A lot of people drive to DeKalb that way. Doesn't make sense otherwise.

Just out of curiousity I tuned it a few mins of Graceland on college extra and it literally looked like someone was streaming their home video camera. NIU and BC bumped for that, you gotta be bleeping me. Safe to say ESPN college extra......BUST.

That is particularly sad in that UW Whitewater's game with Morningside (IA) played on Thursday nite 9/24 was picked up by ESPN 3. NCAA D3 #1 vs NAIA #1. Whitewater won by 3 in the final minute.

Just wait till the MLB playoffs, if the Cubs advance past the Wildcard play in game you won't hear much else covered sports wise till they are out except more coverage about how bad the Bears are and some Blackhawk news especially if the Kane matter is settled.

Without the success they've had in the last 5 years you wouldn't hear much about the Blackhawks either.

Chicago has the same problem as the north east. Just not that much passion for college football outside of Notre Dame fans.

The passion's part of it but I also think the Chicago area is made up of so many alums & (Parents of students attending):

ILL/Iowa/Wisky/NU/Mich in addition to NIU/ISU etc......
