Really, a LaTech-ULL rematch???

Lets not quibble about what bowl until after the Troy game. I think if all of the top 8 run the tables against the bottom 3, then there's likely to be a huge pile up of 6-6 bowl eligible teams. I think we need 7 wins to go bowling this year. We beat Troy and I think we get there. Because I think we will be picked after Arkansas State or ULL if they finish eligible but within 1 win of our record.

And its doubtful that the Camellia Bowl wants us two years in a row unless we're the obvious choice. We showed up well, but there's a limit to it.

I actually could see South struggling to get a bowl invite if Montgomery isn't interested. New Orleans will take ULL. Go Daddy will take the Champ. If Montgomery goes somewhere else, I could see Cure not taking the Jags either.

Assuming both teams don't completely crater this year, I see a Cajun-USM matchup taking shape in New Orleans. I think TPTB would see such a matchup as a very good draw for their venue.

Who the heck of our home and homes are we supposed to drop to play you? Gezz we played you when you were coming off an FCS national title and stupidly passed up a home and home with Oklahoma to do it, what more do you want. We haven't dodged jack, we've even played you twice in the last 6 years, we just aren't into going to a 22k seat stadium.

As far as the bowls outside of 2012 and 2013 when we were lame duck in CUSA 3.0 and they already knew we were leaving and stuck us with the poorest bowl matchups, we have consistently got the better matchups of whatever conference we are in because we draw well and bowls wanted us.

Florida, TCU, Texas Tech, Ranked Boise State, ranked Maryland and ranked Marshall, USF when they were a 9 win Big East team etc.

I doubt they pair us with a ULM or Sun Belt/MAC school again.

Would love to see an Appy / ECU match up in any bowl...they can run but they cannot hide...sorry, will be rooting for stAte to get in the Cure Bowl...for obvious reasons...good luck...

Yeah, who wouldn't want to play in a home domed bowl game where your fans come out onces a year as the other team. You should win every time in that circumstance especially as mediocre as that ECu team was. Out of the 8 bowls we've been to in the last 9 years that was probably the 2nd worst team, could be the very worst.

We played on ABC this weekend and sold out a 50k seat stadium in the rain. I think the conference and TV people would want us in a higher profile bowl match up before it even got to us requesting.

ECU: we have good attendance, beat the bottom half of the ACC on a regular basis, win a conference championship once every 20 years and lose 2/3rds of our bowl games.

Just thought I'd cut to the end.

I would love to play ECU but there's no way I'd pick playing them over Pitt. Beating an ACC team holds a lot more weight than beating ECU, even in NC.

Understatement by comparison

Quote:beat the bottom half of the ACC on a regular basis,

We've won 5 straight over the ACC. Virginia Tech hasn't been out of the top 50 in 23 years and likely will be there again this year. That would be the last 4 bowl teams from the P5. Not exactly chopped liver considering they beat the national champ last year as a 7-6 team. Hey but that's a bad team I suppose when all of the G5 wins about 4 games vs bowl eligible teams a year TOTAL.

Quote:win a conference championship once every 20 years and lose 2/3rds of our bowl games.

Playing in real conferences and getting the best bowl matchups.

We are top 10 in conference record the last 10 years.

Let's see...you lost to a bad Florida team and a very average Navy team...only beat FCS Towson by 8...not so great...get off the high horse...you aren't all that and a bag of chips...05-mafia

Florida is ranked and we lost by 1 TD in the Swamp.

Navy is undeafeated and always win 9 games and give us trouble with the option.

Towson was the first game of the year playing conservative with our 3rd string QB because we lost our top 2 guys. We also had a new OC. WTF do you expect.

We beat more P5 than anyone. Period. We have a top 10 conference record in the entire nation the last decade. We dominate the conferences we have been in too eve if we go 6-2 in the standing instead of 7-1 vs a non apples to apples divison schedules anyway. We play schedules you guys can't come close to.

They aren't going to stick us with App State or ULM in a bowl. We just on ABC. TV is smarter than that. AAc doesn't have it out for us.

wow, you beat an average VT team, and you guys think that your going to have your picks of high profile bowls, thought we had some unrealistic fans. Personally, not that big on playing ECU in a bowl, we will probably start playing them on a regular basis soon enough, and if we don't, not a big loss.

Seeing the same thing. The way I see it working out for USA is as follows if they only beat stAte and ULL's record by 1 game:

USA finishes with at least the same conference record as ULL and State and beats both of them (we get them both at home). So 7-5 (5-3) USA or 6-6 (5-3) Ark State or 6-6 (5-3) ULL. I think we'd probably be okay there. But it would be really dicey for us.

For a strange reason, I suspect that it might not come down to that, because I don't think all three will be eligible. I just hope it isn't USA that falls short.

We really need to beat Troy this weekend. USA started this season no higher than 7th on the Bowl list. Beat them and we probably move into 5th.

ECU is apparently 23-27 against the Sun Belt.

Yeah I guess that checks out.
