Is this how canjun fans apologize for poor results?
No, they shift blame to new buildings.
Even our fans aren't buying into that one! LOL
HA! I know...still hilarious!

Nope. Not at all. It has everything to do with how bad the other team is, not how good the opposing team/conference mate may be.
Now this is something both App and Georgia Southern can take away from most of the responses on here. Because the two traditional power's seem to be down, the conference is down. App and the Eagles aren't as good, therefor the teams they are railroading must suck. While the other MAC teams (save Toledo because they are for real) that have beat us, are that much better because of who they beat in our conference.
The logic is the same as the perception that the national media will point to. Is it possible, or even likely, that App and Georgia Southern had a foundation of success before moving up and so far it has transitioned better than anyone could have expected it to. Or is it more likely that App and GaSo being the class of the conference is a sign that ULL and Arkansas State is down, because personally I think those two programs are showing how down they are own well enough on their own.

Congratulations on a successful 13 months in FBS football. Our first few years went pretty well too. I'm sure your program will just keep charging upward in a straight line with no hiccups whatsoever and look forward to your first game as a member of the SEC.
I'm sorry you're seeing this. I bear you no ill will. Its just that you guys aren't performing. In the last 4 years, you have had 1 FBS win each year (and 2 of those were against NMSU at home - lets not pretend that was a big win ).
2014 - beat NMSU at home (NMSU had 1 FBS win - Georgia State - who had 0 FBS wins)
2013 - beat Temple at home (Temple had 2 FBS wins)
2012 - beat NMSU at home (NMSU had 0 FBS wins)
2011 - beat San Jose State on the road (they had 4 FBS wins!)
2015 - You currently have 0 FBS wins and have to play @USA, @NMSU, @Auburn, @Troy, @Arkansas State and only have 3 more home games (ULM, App, and Texas State). I'm seeing 'maybe' 2 wins in there (if I look REALLY hard)
How much longer should we wait?
I get that you can point to Georgia State. But they're in the footprint and can contribute in other ways that you cannot (e.g., basketball). I think there's more than a few of us who would have preferred that we had that decision to have back.
---
I've pretty much given up on you guys. I'm not enthused by EKU, but I'm beginning to think that they might be a better option to stay at 12.
---
Here's the pro Idaho argument if this keeps up.
1) The Belt decides it is vital to have a CCG and EKU doesn't have the votes to replace you
2) ADs and football coaches like to have some weaker teams.
This puts you in a dangerous position IMHO. At least NMSU has Texas State trying to keep them around.
---
No offense and no hate, but 2 non-NMSU FBS wins in 4 years...and this year starting to look similar...is not a good place to be.
Yep, we've stunk for 4 years. When the WAC went in the tank, so did we. Whenever we've had conference stability we've been fine. It's just damn hard to put a team together when you can't tell recruits what's happening to your program.
The lifeline thrown to us by the Belt has helped a lot and we've already improved from the rock bottom of '12-13. Another year to fix defensive depth problems should and we should be rolling. History shows that when we're in a stable situation we're solid contributors but I get that the geography will never make sense and if the Belt wants to move on because of that there won't be any hard feelings on my end. It's largely our fault we're in this position in the first place.
Although I haven't thrown in the towel on this season yet. We've only played one game against a team that wasn't a power in its FBS conference, and we won. Our next 5 games are @StAte, @Troy, ULM, @NMSU & @USA. We also have Tx. St. at home at the end of the year. If we win a couple of those does your opinion change at all?
Somewhat. You aren't going to win defenders until you guys start winning OOC games. Winning conference games would at least show the potential for future OOC wins.
Fair enough. At any rate, it's going to be hard for anyone to take me seriously as I argue that we're improving if we don't knock somebody off this year.

GaSo's win against App last year is not very compelling. I watched the Stink steady decline in the waning months of 2014, watched them carry that decline into a lackluster start to this year, being shut out by WVU and taking 3 quarters to put away Idaho, the worst team in the Sun Belt and a team that almost lost to Wofford.
And what has App State done so far? Beat a horrible Howard team, got man-handled by a good Clemson team, and then beat a down right awful ODU squad. Then, y'all play a dismal Wyoming team before starting conference play. Hardly enough game time to already be thumping your chest even if you are the App State homer.
We were far more competitive against Clemson than GaSo was against WVU. Clemson is twice the team WVU is this year as well.
I'm not convinced ODU is that bad. Like I said yesterday, it looks like everyone's primary takeaway from our game Saturday is that ODU sucks. I hope/suspect they win more than a few conference games this year.
All-in-all, our week 4 resume is stronger than yours.
Exactly.

Well, I can't argue with the reasons GS is making. One of the greatest football programs out there, Liberty, put 17 points up against WVU. Since Jawja Suthrn couldn't put up 1 point up against WVU, we all can see how good they really are.

WVU had 2 months to prep for our special offense with our back up QB.
Then had to turn around and prep for a completely different style of offense in a week for Liberty.
Even if Liberty is FCS, they are obviously going to fair better against a less prepared WVU with all of their starters.

No team in the Belt has a great resume at this point. At least there should be some really competitive games in conference play. I too hope App and GaSo are undefeated going into their annual blood-letting but neither team better look past what they are facing week to week. I expect some rather crazy results this season as this conference might look like bi-polar Sybil from week to week.

Now you're just sandbagging. Georgia Southern beating WMU worse than Michigan State did and App beating ODU far worse than NC State did isn't nothing. Sure the transitive property doesn't work in football and I doubt either App or Georgia Southern would hang with MSU (though both could probably make a game of it against NCSU), seeing those two occurrences is encouraging.

Speaking of bi-polar conference results, wasn't there one year where the Sun Belt had around 4 teams finish 6-6?
