Top 3 program. Finest facilities. Rabid fan base. Flagship school in the state. Best conference in the land. What else could he ask for? NE Patriots?

I don't know Fuente, but he lives down the street and I've seen him at mass and kids BB games. It does seem like he and his wife like the city. He also seems like the guy who doesn't like to glad hand. I don't think he would enjoy being in a fish bowl like Tuscaloosa. Just an observation from afar.

Don't get me wrong, Ole Miss has plenty to offer and I do think Fuente could do well there...but I think there are easier places to win.

Plus Ole Miss isnt going to have an opening anytime soon.

I lived in Austin. It's a very, very liberal/progressive city in the middle of a conservative state. Freeze just does not fit what they are looking for.

When the Texas BOR/administrators see the video of the Ole Miss coaching staff sitting around the conference table, joining hands and saying prayers before their meeting starts, that might be the end of their interest. Not at all saying praying is wrong, it's just not University of Texas. Their leaders see their school as more secular progressive like Stanford or UCLA, not like the SEC.

I wasn't surprised they went for Strong, but I don't think he is a good fit either. Texas needs a back-slapper who will have a drink with the big boosters. That's not Strong. But it's not really Freeze either.

Ah, the tolerance of academia and their elite.

RE: Freeze to Texas?....
If Charlie only wins 3 this year I don't see him keeping the job. They should beat Kansas at home but Iowa State on the road is not a gimme for a team that struggles to score. Even if they beat KU, ISU and 1 other team to get to 4 wins not sure he will last. Beat OU this weekend maybe it buys some time but that's a steep hill with no offense.

Freeze holding prayer meetings or not will be about 124th on the list of concerns of Texas fans whether academics or their so-called "elite".

The first 123 concerns will be winning.
