Agree in part. Offense has been great between the 20s. Huge #s for total yards and first downs. Red Zone offense is ranked 107th nationally. A couple more TDs instead of FGs and we could be 4-0 very easily. Maybe not all of that is on Gran but I think everyone in the stadium knows once we get into the red zone, one of our 3 plays will be a QB draw.

It was terrible last night, 5 trips to the redzone for 13 points.

Interested if you think that's Gran or the head guy not wanting to turn it over. I think part of it was having a Freshman QB who has less field to work with, but to me you have to trust him. Lack of redzone production has clearly been an issue this year (I think a healthy Boone will help because he is easily the most effective redzone back). Some of that is just bad luck that will even out, but we do get more predictable in the redzone and that has to change.

RE: 1309 Yards
No idea. I've noticed the difference all year, though. I do notice that Tubbs does not look at the play sheet a single time until we get in the red zone and then he starts paging through and talking on the headset. He is largely a spectator between the 20s unless it's a crucial short yardage play...pay attention to that going forward and see what I mean.

Someone check to see when the last time a team had more than 750 yards of offense and then got an additional 100+ yards in penalties from the opposing team and still lost. It can't be a high number of occurances.

I'd venture to say never. Can you remember having 750 yards of offense? That's an insane amount.

Agree with the bolded statement. Definitely will pay more attention to the coaches and play calling during the Miami game.

Starts and ends with defense and has the past couple of years.
1) Cannot tackle and I mean CANNOT!!!!!!! Not sure what is so difficult but our guys cannot wrap up and bring someone down. We continually slide off them like everyone of our opponents is covered in Crisco
2) DBs are lost. Either they never turn around to see the ball or they are face guarding the receivers while the QB is 10 yds past the line of scrimmage.

That is Tecmo Bowl Christian Okoye crazy kind of stats. I thought I was incredulous that we lost the Temple game after the stats we put up, but jeesh. It should be like a run rule in baseball that if you break 700 yards of offense the game is over. :)

The Temple game was a give away. Just way too many turnovers. This game was worse, our D was lost and got whooped.

RE: 1309 Yards
IMO guys just did not know their responsibilities in coverage pre snap way too often. Some of the coverage was pure chaos and it was not due to Memphis reinventing the wheel.

The play where we had the QB covered up but let him walk into the end zone after turning our back to look for another assignment gave me a sports hernia.03-lmfao

I do believe we had about that against UConn in 2009. Came pretty close to losing that one too. And same problem then - four field goals out of RZ possessions. Been a problem for quite a long time.
