Now that we have one Fly Over under our belt, I almost think that we need one for the Villanova game that says "Thanks VAD".

I don't understand why JMU is waiting for an invite either. Why don't they just notify their conference of choice that they will be joining?

And I don't understand why JMU just sits around doing nothing instead of going out and building top notch facilities and developing one of the top athletic programs in the FCS nation so as to improve their chances of receiving an invite.

Sorry. I'm sure that there are plenty of good reasons to criticize the current administration, especially if you think that we should have jumped on the Sunbelt thing, but to act like JMU is just sitting silent, doing nothing, waiting for an offer to magically land in its lamp defies all evidence and common sense.

How does the statement, "I don't think we'll be moving any time soon" make you confident that the admin is doing something about this?

And to Purple's point, how would we know if they're doing anything? I don't need weekly updates about phone calls and emails they've made regarding anything and everything. But the fact that we still have no idea what "the national model for an engaged university" or whatever that catch phrase actually means is a little concerning.

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we don't/can't know about. I get that. But other than saying, "We're working on it" what has the admin done to make you confident that they're actually working on it? If it's just blind trust, then you're more trusting than me and I wish I could be like that.

And I'm not just trying to blindly bash the admin. Getting Gameday at JMU was HUGE and I give all the respect in the world to the admin for helping make that a success. They listened to suggestions and rolled out the red carpet and the weekend was better than I ever could have imagined. However, the fact still remains that we're pushing forward totally in the dark about our future. Richmond and W&M know what they are and what they want to be. What do we want to be?

With all that said, at least we're not Delaware. Go Dukes.

Nail on the head. Of course there aren't any invites coming (that we know of at this time), and to say otherwise would be lying to yourself/others. The most credible chance of an invitation coming our way is basically Big 12 expansion, and the trickle down effect that will cause when conferences raid each other. I don't know how else you go out and create your own future with that scenario. In the meantime we're handling business that we can control.

I generally agree with this at this point, but the Alger COA thing was way off-message and just plain dumb, not to mention that it was clearly rogue and unknown to BOV and JB/Athletics.

I do think they are trying to be honest with themselves this time at least because they truly believe nothing is going to shake loose anytime soon. It just remains so disappointing.

Great idea! I'm in. We have until Nov. 21 to collect $ for this one, that being our final regular season home game against Nova.

the Big 12 has only 10 teams (go figure). Look for them to add a couple teams within the next year or two, likely from stealing teams from CUSA and Sun Belt, which will open spots for us. Sun Belt has only 11 teams. I guess it was that 12th spot we stupidly turned down already.

Well maybe our man CIS Duke is ready to ready to run point again... if not this, would be cool to do something to show our appreciation as fans...we certainly had a lot of fun watching, and he truly is a standup kid.

Maybe in a couple of years...probably right...Bourne should tell us, "maybe in a couple of years"...

The problem, maybe in a couple of years, a big12 expansion does nothing but open a spot in the sunbelt...around we go, maybe in a couple of years...

Let's figure out what we want to do. Vad is an amazing man and Duke, he needs to know how much we appreciate all he's done.

Question, does the school cover his medical expenses?

Donate the contributions to the Duke Club. Notify JB and present one of those big checks on the field in honor of Vad Lee. Everyone in the stadium will give a standing ovation instead of a percentage of people looking to the sky to notice the banner. Heck, get them to make a highlight video to show when it is presented. A much better used of the funds.

Factually incorrect. Offers (official or unofficial) have come and gone already. We've already thumbed our nose at CUSA (under Rose) and SBC (under Alger). So we're 0-2 with invite opportunities so far. We sure have an uncanny knack of talking ourselves out of pursuing/accepting them, don't we? That's creating your future, in a way, right?

Hijack? GFY! I see CUSA being the main raiding territory for the Big 12, but Sun Belt's Ape State is looking tough as hell! 6-1 and blowing out everyone. Their only loss is to #12 Clemson. They skunked ODU 49-0!

The AAC, BYU and Boise St are the targets of the Big 12 if and when it decides to expand. Big 12 is not looking to CUSA or Sun Belt.

This is a great idea! If we could give to Vad's scholarship fund and match it with a Duke Club check the entire stadium would think higher of JMU2FBS and the coverage would be incredible. We raised $1400 for the first plane, I'd think we could get $1000 each on this one.
