Now we're looking at a first class practice facility in the making and we're on the way to a new stadium. I still have trouble wrapping my head around the last year

I can live with that. Not ideal, but better than a 75,000 seat indoor stadium and definitely better than nothing. Hope it can be arranged in a way that we can have real tailgating.

If we didn't have to fight the trustees and UAT's interests...

1. UAB buys the Birmingham School of Law.
2. UAB School of Law and Political Science expands to north of the railroad track, including a dorm(s).

If the BJCC builds a stadium south of the current facility (even just basely south), UAB could expand to be next to it. Not because of the stadium, but because UAB can and should expand.

A BJCC facility that includes an indoor expanded arena large enough to host NCAA regionals doesn't make sense south of I-20/59, and UAB is not going to take over the central business district. The only off-campus location that would still work as a place UAB could grow into would be around Regions Field.

Also, I don't necessarily care if UAB were to get a law school. To do it to UAB standards, it would probably cost more than UAB would gain. If we as a society can get our heads out of our butts there's plenty of growth to be had by continuing to focus on biomedical research.

Regardless, I think an open-air stadium at the BJCC can work if they tie it into campus with good transportation. Even if not, it's already a much better area than Legion Field with better options for things to do before/after the game (bars, restaurants, etc)

Just a side note...can we please be more careful/mindful of walking around a crowd afterward with Periscope running? There were some private conversations occurring.

We've sort of lost a sense of personal space in today's world, I know...just have to be careful walking up and potentially recording a conversation even if it is on accident.

Are you worried about legal implications or what? If so, there are none in Alabama. If people are having a conversation in public that is not for public consumption then I'd urge them to have their conversations in private.

I'm more thinking of subject matter being discussed in private conversations of people even though it is at a "public" place.

I'm not talking about anything legally. I'm just saying it personally. Conversations happen when people get together...and it is unfortunate if all of a sudden there is a live stream next to you all of a sudden and whatever you had been talking about could be taken out of context.

This is not an isolated problems...Periscope and Meerkat are causing these privacy issues come to the forefront.

RE: Press Conference Periscope
The general rule is that people in public places must assume they might be photographed or recorded. Therefore, you may photograph, film and record what you can easily see or hear in public places, even if the recorded people have not specifically consented to such, provided you do not harass, trespass or otherwise intrude.

I see your point, but in a public place with lots of people if you're talking about sensitive things then someone will overhear it with their ears and repeat it, too.
