I think that would be the earliest time of departure for Watts because of state TRS rules. Of course, I'm thinking like a teacher, not a doctor. He can continue to be a doctor after he quits as President. When you retire as a teacher, you are out of a job in your field. (I looked into a private school job and for teaching all 4 years of history PLUS coaching a sport, they offered $17,000)
His career will not have prepared him to be a full time practicing physician. If he were to quit and find a new job, it would still be in academics with a primary administrative or research focus.
What are you talking about? You are aware that Watts has continued to have physician hours as part of his agreement to be UAB President, right?
He's been primarily a researcher and administrator for the last umpteen years. A limited amount of clinic time and attending on a service managed by in-training residents/fellows is drastically different from being a full-time practicing physician in private practice.

Well once you #FreeUAB rebels started making a ruckus... A nice happy landing spot in MVC went away. I guess inviting a fan base who would not be coming happily wasn't ideal.

Yeah, if we had just shut up and gone along with Ray's plans everything would have been just ducky.

His Teachers Retirement System payment will probably be based on the highest 3 year's salary from UAB over the past 10 years. Of course he also will likely be getting payments from a retirement account that would have been funded through his Health Services Foundation employment ( I think the HSF used to provide a 3 to 1 match of one's contributions up to a certain % of your yearly salary from HSF). There also would likely be funds from something like TIAA-CREF, which UAB has in the past provided a 1 : 1 match of contributions, again up to a certain % of the UAB salary. ChaChing CHAChing CHACHING!. $$$$$$$

He is one of the most highly respected Parkinson's physicians in America and has continued to treat a friend of mine throughout his Presidency.
I'll take the over by about a year.....I don't think he leaves until next summer.

So? His point is still valid. Academic, research oriented medicine is worlds different from full time, private practice. I doubt he does more than 1-2 half days of clinic anymore.

I think he leaves at the end of the day. Goes home, has a glass of brandy or scotch, thanks God he doesn't have to hear #fireraywatts on a daily basis, and spends time with his wife.
Then he wakes up, has a cup of joe (black, two sugars), gets dressed, goes to work and just prays he can make it through another day at this God forsaken university.

Closer to the facts - "Paul Bryant, Jr and his BOT forsaken university".

Firstly, that joke can only be used so many times before it is no longer funny and it has been widely used on this forum before you ever touched it. Mrs. Watts, Mrs. Frazier, etc...different names, same joke.
Secondly, he's right in saying that he is very well known and respected in the Parkinson's community.

Im obsessed with everything I write? Are you sure you structured that sentence right? You probably meant "because he is so obsessed with anything Memphis writes"
I only continued what I thought was a running joke you started with Demiveeman. So by your own words, you are obsessed with anything Demiveeman writes or responds to. Why are you stalking Demiveeman?

Yes I do. You don't.
And so Grammar Nazi doesn't have to:
It should be "don't," not "dont." It should be "kicked," not "kick." Is should be "president." not "presidents." Finally, it is up for debate, but I'd say "cancer on UAB" is more accurate than "cancer for UAB."
