RE: Coach Rhoads's Press Conference-Toledo
He's a real fan of our Coach and program. Nice to schedule someone like that.
Ely an NFL player? Has there been enough to say that? He dropped some in against Ark that were really nice. I thought he showed a strength finding a lane and so did the receivers but he did have a couple batted down a few behind the players as I recall.
Of all the positions on the field, I'm convinced the receiver position is getting the hardest. QBs are getting stronger, just zinging that ball. Timing is such, you're catching a ball that's thrown before you make your cut and on its way to you is flying between hands, over 6'5" linemen and out of the sun all while someone defensive gnat has his hands in your jersey. You're 5'9" nothing and you have to block a 260lb TE. Sometimes I wonder if WR even sees the ball before it hits their hands or chest. I think just once, I'd like to see what that ball looks like coming in from their perspective. I know our receivers dropped a few but I thought they did a great job with their routes and staying with it to give Ely a lane.
Our secondary is another. In a different year, most of them would have bit on the QB, on that last play opening up a receiver downfield but they held. Even I was starting to run towards their QB from the lazyboy, but they held and made him throw to covered receivers. Nice.

At the same time Rhoads is handing out the compliments, he's going to try to beat the crap out of UT.
