AState loses two for season, Knighten for 2 weeks
We're trying to catch last years injury mark early it seems. Defensive starters Tajea Chambers (ACL Tear) and Bo Sentimore (Fractured Ankle) are out for the remainder of the season. The Good news is they will be replaced by Xavier Woodson and Chris Humes respectively, who were both starters last year, but it hurts the depth.

Fredi Knighten also strained his groin in the 3rd quarter, and while we don't have a certain timeline, it is expected that he will miss 2 weeks. Freshman James Tabary will handle the starting QB job against Missouri State and likely at Toledo the following week.

At current rate, Knighten would be set to return in time for the conference opener against Idaho October 3rd.

Tough news! I hope they all heal quickly!

Hate to hear that. How is the backup?

Hate to hear that. The silver lining is Tabard will get some valuable playing time in a game that he can most likely afford to make a few mistakes in and still come out with a win. Hopefully he finds his rhythm for the Toledo game.

Much better passer than Knighten, but not near the athlete. Has a cannon for an arm, but like most Freshman, throws into tight coverage a little too much, and is still developing the touch on the ball to make it easier for a receiver to catch

Both his picks in the Mizzou game were balls that hit the receivers in the hands, but were mishandled.

Can we beat both WMU and Toledo with backup SBC QBs?

At least the StAte backup QB will get a warm-up game before going to Toledo…

We've got a bye this week which comes at a good time as we've had our share of injuries.....lots of shoulder injuries which seems odd. Anyway, some of these guys will be healed up in time for a game against Akron at Cajun Field in two weeks.

Tabary will at least get some valuable game time under his belt.

He's gonna need the Missouri state to tune up if we're gonna have any shot of upsetting the rockets at the glass bowl In 2 weeks

In addition to those injuries, talented DB Blaise taylor (trooper Taylor's son) also hurt his ankle Saturday and last I heard he's listed as "day to day"

Reports are he will miss Missouri State, but will be ready to go against Toledo.

We're being very cautious with injuries this week since we're facing an FCS team, and more specifically an FCS team that isn't a Top 25 level program like we usually face.

I'm betting you get Knighten back earlier than 2 weeks . . . .

. . . . Cleared to play could be another story . . . .

Could this injury be the best thing to happen to Ark. St.'s season? I really think it will pay dividends later this season.

possibly could Saint. I think the one thing about last year's injury bug that was so killer was the timing (right in the middle and thick of the conference play) and not only that but it just seemed like from the lafayette game to the last game against New Mexico State, we'd lose like 1-3 players a week to an iinjury

At least now its so early in the season And against a relatively light opponent our younger inexperienced guys can start getting into the system and improving early on

Not sure. I've been arguing for a while that we needed to be preparing Tabary for what I saw was the inevitable Knighten injury, but I've been countered many times before with "He didn't get hurt last year."

If Tabary came out these two weeks, played great, and got us 2 wins, he could easily steal Knighten's job. However, if he comes out and stinks, coaches could lose patience quick and go to our Sophomore 3rd stringer.

Blaise hurt his ankle against USC. Pretty sure he sat out against Missouri.

A 2nd MRI on Knighten's groin revealed much better results. He will still sit against Missouri State, but if he is ready, the coaches have said they have no intention of resting him against Toledo.

He'll be needed against Toledo, though it's hard to take a program called Toledo seriously.

I assure you Toledo will be an important game for StAte.To beat the team that beat the Hogs with so much of the season left will provide some great in state banter for the State of Arkansas

Last year with Broadway was the first year we had a QB start every game since jake delhomme in 1996... Running QB's will get hurt.
