Romo is 35 and at the PEAK of his career, not 39 and fading. He has a broke collarbone so this argument is one of frustration, opportunity and convenience. Injuries are part of life in the NFL. The time to start looking for a padawan QB will be over the next few seasons, not 2 or 3 years ago.

You honestly believe we lost the last 2 games because of Brandon Weeden? Seriously?

He is completing over 76% of his passes, is averaging 9.3 yards per attempt and has a QB rating of 108.9. And he has done this without perhaps the most electrifying WR on the planet, Dez Bryant, taking ONE SINGLE SNAP.

How the hell do you get better backup QB play than that?

Those aren't just good numbers, they are remarkably good and would lead the NFL most seasons. The idea that we could have drafted a backup that would have played better than this the last 2 weeks is........well........delusional imo.

We haven't lost 2 strait due to Brandon Weeden, we've lost 2 strait because we can't run the ball enough when we have a lead and the defense has been ROASTED in second halves on key drives.

We gave up 450 yards of offense to both Atlanta and New Orleans in consecutive games. Brandon Weeden does not play defense. You are going to lose 90% of the time when you give up 450 yards of offense.

I know its frustrating, but lets not lose our heads here. 04-cheers

They need to start looking at their next franchise QB in the draft...sooner rather than later...or we will be facing another coaching change in the near future.

Jerry should have drafted a QB two or three years ago, Romo gets hurt every year. He better draft one this year, and let them learn behind Romo, such as Rodgers did behind Favre.

You guys are just just frustrated and not thinking this thing through. 2 or 3 years ago would have been WAYYYY too early to burn a top pick, and the statistical chances that the pick is a bust are astronomically high. Draft picks are Free Agents after 4 years. There is almost zero chance we would have found a QB capable of supplanting Romo by next season. He is one of the most talented QB's in the NFL.

People act like drafting a franchise QB is just easy as pie. Just pick a guy and you are set. The vast majority of QB high draft picks are busts and career backups

SEVERAL NFL teams have been "drafting" a franchise QB for 3-4-5 decades now and they still haven't landed one. Some have given up and signed big name FA veteran QB's.

Cleveland
Chicago
Buffalo
Washington
NY Jets
Jacksonville
Oakland
Kansas City
Tampa Bay
New Orleans
Arizona
Denver
St. Louis
Minnesota

Every one of these teams has drafted QB after QB after QB for decades, and all they got was bust after bust after bust. That's almost half NFL and none of these teams have hit on a franchise QB in the draft in multiple decades. Minnesota might have one in Bridgewater, but the jury is out on him right now and will be for the next few seasons.

RE: Cowboys
You guys need to emotionally prepare yourself for the next 2 weeks. We are probably going to lose to New England and be 2-3 going into the bye, which is going to be drama queen city for the media and water cooler talk. Even playoff teams get spanked and have an ugly loss or two every year (remember the SF and philly games last year?). We are probably about to get spanked and lose ugly this Sunday.

But we won't be facing a Brady, Brees or Matt Ryan caliber offense again until mid December against the Packers.

Following the bye, its likely we go 8-3 through the final 11 games to finish the season 10-6 or 9-7 with the division crown. That's not a best case scenario, its actually the most likely scenario looking at the schedule and considering how competitive we have been while decimated with these injuries and suspensions. I'd say 9-7 is the worst case scenario, and that will probably win the division too.

Romo and Dez with both be healthy by mid November (Dez could be back even earlier) and we are going to win most of our games down the stretch. Not just because they are back, but because of the schedule down the stretch. We just need be near .500 by mid November. That is more than possible, its actually highly likely.

But prepare yourselves, the next 2 weeks may get ugly.

The NFC east may be the worst division in the NFL this year.

With all those uber talented players set to return and so little competition in the division, its not so hard to see.

But I have a feeling a spanking is coming from the Patriots this week.

yup

But in fairness, it could get ugly for most of the NFL when they play the patriots this year.

Not 4 minutes into the game....Rolando McClain and Greg Hard have already sacked Brady.

Hardy looks totally unblockable.

RE: Cowboys
This is amazing. The Cowboys pass rush is destroying Tom Brady in this first half.

Hardy reeked so much havoc in the opening minutes, he's now drawing double and triple teams. And right on cue DeMarcus Lawrence and both Crawfords are suddenly getting all sorts of pressure.

Weeden isn't very good, but the Cowboys miss Dez more than anything. He must be doubled. TWill is a fine # 2 receiver. Everyone is just stacking the line and forcing 2nd and 3rd & longs.

Leary needs to be benched for Collins.

yep

Not having Dez is making things impossible. Every week teams are loading 9+ in the box. No one can run against that.

Give Weeden Dez and you can take more deep shots one on one. Dez can make plays down the sideline even in double coverage. That forces the box to loosen up and makes room for big runs.

Cowboys don't have another receiver who can dominate one on one and get deep.

I like Williams a lot too, but we agree he's just not a #1. He's a deep threat one on one, but gets swallowed up in double teams.

RE: Cowboys
Its a little unfair complaining about Weeden. He's playing solid football for a #2.

But they don't have a deep threat at all and they can't run the ball. That pretty much neuters your QB unless he is John Elway, Romo or Cam Newton.

5 sacks on Brady in the first half.

Pats having to totally alter their playcalling and offense.

Win lose or draw, this is exactly what the cowboys needed.....McClain and Hardy being game changers.

They're talking like he could be back in 2 weeks for NYG game. Just need to get to Romo's return w/ 4 or 5 wins. That's doable with @NYG, Philly and @Tampa as 3 of the 4 games after the bye.

Though we need him bad, I worry he may come back too fast..

Lets hope he's ready to go.
