ODU SELLS OUT SEASON TICKET ALLOTMENT for 7th STRAIGHT YEAR
Season tickets sell out for 7th straight year
ODU SELLS OUT SEASON TICKET ALLOTMENT for 7th STRAIGHT YEAR

In ODU’s 20,118 seat stadium (SB Ballard) we have allotted 13,744 for our season tickets; we also allow 2,000 for our students and give the visiting team 2,600 -3,000 for each game. ODU keeps approximately 500 tickets that we set aside for visiting families and other VIP visitors. That accounts for 18,844 - 19,244, leaving only 1,166 at the high end or 766 tickets for walk ups and any other special needs for each game. ODU offers Student tickets on line two weeks before each home game. For both the Norfolk Sate and NC State game(s) the tickets for students SOLD OUT or were claimed in record time, less than 50 minutes for each game.

WTG Monarchs! Football was reinstated on the Old Dominion campus in the fall of 2009, and Monarch fans have sold out all 41 home contests at Ballard Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 20,118. and looks like we will be able to add 7 more this yar for a record 48 at the end of this year. This season, all seven home games will be broadcast nationally by either Fox Sports or the American Sports Network.

We are all looking forward to our NEW STADIUM!

Congratulations ODU! You set the bar pretty high.

Your student allotment, at 2000 seats, is an interesting contrast to the way Charlotte tried to do it. We started with 7500 and they disappointed us almost every game. This year we are reserving 4500 for them and expecting better results, but we will still be more than double ODU. Maybe we are still too high? I guess it is up to our students to decide that.

Awesome support! When is a new stadium coming? I'm sure it's been discussed on here just don't remember or possibly missed it.

Charlotte is in a weird spot with a new program but with 1-A programs in UTSA, Temple, Southern Miss, FAU, & Marshall coming to town. I personally would be more excited by a schedule filled with 1-As as opposed to one filled with 1-AAs & D2s.

Be interesting to see what ODU does...go big which might hurt season ticket sells or reasonable with a future addition in the plan.

Hey as long as I get a ticket and I will for our game at ODU...that's great.

Plan has been estimated at 30,000 or so for the new stadium. Keep supply in line with demand...don't want to go too big too fast. Will be expandable.

There seems to be a consensus to build our 1st phase of the new stadium at around 28-30k. This will be all state of the art amenities and a shining star for ODU's future growth on the river. The vision seems to be heading in a direction to create a new Gateway Village / Community that will be built around the stadium and the waterfront. The concept looks to feature retail stores, restaurants as well as a Monarch Museum in the Stadium, or on a Boardwalk that will honor "Hall of Fame" inductees for all ODU sports. They are looking at the potential to have tailgating from the river with walkways and piers that will eventually connect the entire new Gateway to the University from the waterfront. This appears to be the most popular vision / version n of the future Stadium.

They are working on this in a very methodical future vision study that has been a tidies process and is progressing way to slow for the fans. But the reality is we only have one shot at making this a spectacular showcase for the University, Norfolk. Hampton Roads and even our conference. I know that they have even asked for input from other Hampton Road cities because it potentially could bring in large tourist dollars if it were to ever be a Bowl site.

All the proposals will take into account expandability with a 10 year growth plan.

Get it to 50k and have a bowl game. I'm sure the area is worth seeing. Y'all are situated in a great place, it's time to take advantage of it now that you have football.

I do think that it may go to 30K with new info. There is a twisting of the arm from several ACC and other regional Schools that have demanded a minimum of 5K in tickets to schedule a home and home series with ODU. I do believe that this will have an impact on the final numbers of our plans for phase I. ODU's future plan is to get to 40k and maybe go after a bowl game or other events for the stadium. The neighborhood may have an impact on all plans for events as they have a very strong civic league. The City of Norfolk needs to help more for streets and the infrastructure cost and look at ODU's expansion as an investment in Norfolk's future as well. Just my 2 cent.

This is great stuff ODU. I can definitely see those schools wanting at least 5,000 tickets. I think you guys would be just about perfect with 30,000 right now. Keep your demand up.

Any idea when you guys might actually break ground on this?

Unfortunately I do not think we will see any stadium news or information till spring of 2016 and construction may be planned for 2017.

Problem so far is that schools like NSU or NC State ask for a couple thousand tickets and then return most of them. I'm sure VT will take their full allotment, but will UNC? Wake? At 5,000 I kind of doubt it. ECU might. I think 28,000 is the right number, expandable to 35 or 40k. And it seems more and more possible that they may rebuild on the existing site rather than the water.

NC State will not return any of the 2,600 tickets they received this year

I wouldn't be surprised to see some blue in the visitors section for that game. ODU sold out its single game tickets before NCST and secondary markets have tickets for $70+.

1. We gave them 2000 tickets, with 500 being complimentary.
2. They sold 1200, kept the 500 freebies and returned 300 tickets that we then sold.
